When a movie was banned in their home country back in 2014, they're making an effort in reviving the movie via Kickstarter, hoping that they could bring their debts from their investors to rest. The reason for banning this movie was due to the excessive illogical amounts of censorship which categorized the movie as 'banned'. The link to this kickstarter project will be at the end of this post.
Putting everything aside, if you're looking for diversity in movies, this would be one of them. People of different backgrounds and ethnicity plays a huge roll wherever you may be. But whenever there's differences between people, they're bound to have a certain amount of hate amongst another. This movie portrays the elements of racism, nationalism, corruption, etc. based on what they've always seen in their daily basis in Malaysia. Though things may sound too serious at times, this movie was made for the purpose of unifying people of different cultures, backgrounds, statuses, and nationalities. Languages will play a big role in the movie and to reflect what it feels to live in Malaysia amongst people, a wide variety of languages were involved (English included, but it's more of their natural ways of communicating with multiple languages in just one sentence). The fact that this was supposed to be a movie about New Year (or Chinese New Year?), elements of comedy were involved to bring joy to everyone in diversity as people in Malaysia celebrates festive events even when they're not a part of the culture.
Hoping to reach a goal of $500,000 in just 40 days (ends at Jan 18, 2016), gifts of reimbursement will be given to anyone anywhere in the world.
