I'm a novice at LD, and I was wondering if you had any tips for success? Particularly in framework and cross ex?

Yeah, sure thing! LD is the best :D

Framework: make sure that EVERYTHING in your case relates to your value criterion. Add some kind of justification in every contention-- it’ll help you support your case. Also, make sure you include a sentence or two after your value explaining how your value criterion supports it. When you’re arguing the value/value criterion clash, it’ll really help you to be able to make clear and distinct connections between everything in your case and the vc.

Cross ex: write down questions in the CX box on your flow as you’re flowing your opponent’s constructive. Cut them off if they give an answer before a justification, and similarly, make sure you say why you’re answering the question (so “Because cakes are very tasty, yes, I enjoy them” rather than “Yes, I like cakes, because...”). And ask follow up questions! If you’ve poked a hole in their argument make it larger.
