Our first "hiker bike, wild camp, mtb adventure". After the purchase of some reasonably deer kit we set off to conquer Nanbield pass in the lake district, and we couldn't of asked for a better début! Aside from forgetting my new sleeping bag, barely sleeping through the night plus a loud fox and the intense midgey fest of course. Ultimately forcing us into our tents prematurely after the obligatory beer whisky and chocolate. (advice: whilst camping next to trees and a stream might seem nice its also a prime location for those bloodsucking fiends) lesson learned.
After a short ride and a questionable nights sleep we awoke at 5am to a fine day, and what would have been a delightful morning sat by the stream.. If not cut short by our blood thirsty friends forcing us to relocate to a safe distance on the trail. Not as desirable but at least we could make breakfast. tbc...
