❝ They seem sorta dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing, also I don’t see a reason to have them, you know? Destiny had a role for Lucas and the PSI thing was there to help him. Fate doesn’t seem to have any important plans for me, at least yet, so I guess if I do get those powers one day it will be at the right time. Destiny knows what it does, that’s why we’re still here after all. ❞
Is there anything you don't like about playing this muse?
OH MAN UM probably that not many people out of mother fandom know or are interested in her enough to rp with me, and i don't blame the at all ofc!! it's a lot more comfortable to rp with characters you know, but it can be hard when there aren't many mother blogs and you don't know how to interact with those who aren't from it, because it's also a lot more comfortable to me to rp with mother 3 characters. But besides that the only other problem i can think of is the lack of fanart/icons, but that's really not a big deal.
Well nana caught my eye since the very first time i saw her back in chugga's let's play, but i didn't pay much attention to her until i was thinking of a new character to rp (cause i had just left a really toxic fanbase and needed a calm place to heal and i heard lots of good things about mother fandom). It's funny that i didn't have much interest in Nana when i first started the blog, my huge love for her came slowly and with time while i thought of headcanons for her.
Nana is such an interesting character who goes unnoticed by the players (and tazmilians), she carries a lot of mystery and says some things that are kinda unsettling if you stop to think about them, i doubt Itoi made it by accident, she resembles previous female protagonists and even passes the feeling that she could do more to the plot, but she's as useless as a broken stick. It's this whole mystery that made me want to expand her world and understand her, because at the same time she talks about trivial things like trumpets and yanopis, some of her sentences will make you wonder how effective the Egg of Light is and why a child who was born in those islands notices and sees things that just don't make sense if you don't know about the White Ship. She also cares a lot about destiny and the impact it has on people's lives, everything is bound to a fate, no matter how silly it is.
And yet she's just a lonely child who wants to be around people and have fun with friends but can't because no one will let her do it, so she pushed herself off to solitude and is afraid to let others talk to her, she knows she'll lose track of her thoughts and she doesn't want people to hate her even more. Nana can be a character full of hidden depth and potential, but in the end she really just needs a hug.
☏: What is the most challenging aspect of playing this muse?
Proooobably the fact that we have no real useful canon information about Nana. We know she loves the ocean and talks a lot and people don't like her, but that's about it. We don't know who are her parents even though we know Nana was born in Tazmily, we don't know anything. It's up to me come up with things that make a little but sense with that very few info and make this vague, and yet really deep character, feel like a person.
That's why I'm always feeling like there's something missing about my portrayal, it because THERE REALLY IS, it's a lotta fun to think of her headcanons but also really scary cause i could be very very wrong about them. But ya know, it's this whole mystery that makes me love Nana so much, she's a character that the more you learn about, the less you know about.
I love your art a lot! Do you have any tips on how to draw so good? I really admire you
oh gosh thank you so much!! did you see me post on twitter or this is just a coincidence?? ANYWAYS
oH UM, tips on how to draw so good? ya know thats a question that really doesn’t have only one answer and yet does, since there’s really not something as “good art” or “good artstyle”, it depends a lot on the artist and the person who sees it. Like, there is realistic art, cartoonish art, manga, “disney-ish” and even those styles have different styles in them. I’m glad to know you like my drawings, but there sure is someone who doesn’t for whatever reason. All art is good on its own little way.
However there IS one thing that can make good art: PRACTICE!! is the only way that, for sure, will make you get better everyday! And I don’t mean like a masterpiece which you spend 4+ hours on, any doodle counts, any skecth that you made out of boredom and tried to test something new is one step closer to perfection!
I can’t tell you how to make “good art” because there is no right concept of it, I can’t make a tutorial and say that your art will only be good if you do x, y and z thing. Practice! Develop your own style! Look at drawings of people you admire and get inspired on them, even adding tiny bits of their style on your own (yes, after all, an art style is just a mix of dozens of other arts, you just need to find out hot to fit them in and add your own identity to it. A real Frankenstein)!
Don’t be afraid to test new things, a coloring, shapes, expressions… Do what you wanna do, as long as you put your heart on it, even if it doesn’t turn out as you wanted it to, it will be art. It will be your art, and that’s more than enough to make it good.
Baby steps, nonnie. No one is born an artist, but you just need to grab a pencil and don’t let go to become one.
