apologies owed | kibum & naoise
Kibum fidgeted outside of the familiar apartment, hesitating for what felt like the 80th time when he prepared himself to knock. He’d had a few days to think about it, replaying the events of the ball in his head as he went about his daily life, and it didn’t take long for him to realize exactly what he’d done to have the boy react the way that he did. It took him quite a bit of time longer, however, to gather up the courage to come apologize to him. He never dealt with apologies correctly so he tended to avoid having to make them at all but he couldn’t allow this one circumstance to continue.
For Kibum, he’d grown up believing that nobody would care about him as much as he could care about himself and that attitude towards his own self-preservation seemed to have finally caught up with him, harming one of the only friendships that he cared to have in the city. It was depressing and it seemed to turn his whole world on it’s head. How many other people did he hurt by being so careless about their feelings, he wondered to himself. The revelation to his own self-centered behavior unnerved him.
Adjusting the small box of tiny cupcakes in one hand and the bouquet of flowers in the other, he raised that hand, knocking at the door with the side of it lightly. He hoped that the boy wouldn’t be so angry with him where he wouldn’t answer the door because as much as he hurt him, unintentionally so, he still cared about him a great deal and he didn’t want to stop being friends with him without first apologizing for his behavior.
It wasn’t Naoise’s fault, after all, that his breakup had left him so screwed up in the head.
