"Boring."
Cake slumped herself onto her bed, head buried in her soft comfy pillow. It was 26th September, her birthday, 7PM.
Just a while earlier, she had eaten her dinner and celebrated her birthday with a simple birthday cake. Not to mention since it was a weekday, she practically spent half of her birthday in class. Nothing much special, as of every other year.
"I might as well catch a short nap before I start revision again…" she flipped herself to a more comfortable position on her bed, closing her eyes…
Knock knock.
Huh?
Knock knock knock.
Cake opened her eyes again, her attention directed to the source of the sound — the window.
Which was funny, she didn’t live on the first floor. How could anyone be able to reach for, yet alone knock on her window?
Curious, she sat up from her comfy spot, and walked slowly over to the window, afraid of what she might see.
As she peered through the tinted glass, she saw a familiar figure outside.
"No, it can’t be…"
She reached over to unlock the window, and slid in to the side…
Just as she thought.
"Konbanwa, Cake-chan!"
It was Nao.
…Which made things even more confusing for her.
"N-Nao-san!? How did you— wait, why do you even know me!?" “Shh,” He placed his finger on her lips. Nao peeked into the room, “Okay, the coast is clear. Follow me!”
What was happening? Cake couldn’t really grasp the exact situation at hand, but she followed Nao anyway, out of the window and down the ladder. Where did he find one that long anyway?
When she had reached the ground, Cake found the scene before her rather…different. Normally, she would expect a quiet road, with HDB flats over at the other side, but tonight was different. Yeah, there was a road, but besides that.. From the buildings displayed giant electric sign boards brightly lit up, faint hints of music that were blasted from stores, groups of teenagers and young adults hanging out…where was she?
"Welcome to Akihabara!" Nao exclaimed, gesturing with his arms open wide.
…
"A-Akihabara!? But wait, weren’t we just—"
"Shh, anything is possible as long as you believe, Cake-chan," he grinned, grabbing her hand, "Let’s go!"
Although still utterly confused, Cake decided to just go with the flow since she was already here anyway. If she followed Japan Time, it would be 8PM here, huh? So this is how Akihabara looks like in the evening… As long Nao pulled her along, they walked past figurine stores, maid cafes with maids greeting them at the door, gaming arcades, anime merchandise…no wonder Nao loves this area so much.
"Hey Nao, where are we going?"
"Akiburger! My favourite restaurant in Akihabara. I hope you’re hungry," he turned back to look at her with a cheesy smile on his face.
"Actually..I already ate."
Almost in disbelief, Nao stopped dead in his tracks, and turned around, his face pale as if the end of the world was coming. “WHAAAAT!? And…And I thought I could bring you out to dine with me..” he whined.
Goodness, Cake couldn’t resist that cute pout on his face, plus since she was already here why not right? She sighed, “Let’s go anyway.”
Like a child who just received candy, Nao’s face lit up instantly, jumping and cheering as he began to drag Cake along again. What a baby, she thought, giggling softly to herself.

When they finally reached and took their seats inside AkiBurger, Nao went ahead and ordered 2 sets, insisting that he already knew the best for Cake and there was no need for her to view the menu.
After a short wait of 5 minutes, the sets were served…Cake took a look her set specially chosen by Nao, and indeed it was exactly what she liked, but there was a problem…the portion was huge!
"Itadakimasu~"
Both of them digged in, but Cake only managed to finish 3/4 of her burger…
"I’m full."
"But you still have a quarter left!"
"Uhh..I don’t know.." she stared intently at the juicy meat, it was so tempting…
"It’s okay! I’ll finish it for you if you don’t want it!"
Nao reached over and snatched Cake’s burger from her plate.
"H..Hey! I didn’t say that I don’t want it! Give it back!" Cake barked, stretching her arm out to reach for her unfinished burger.
Reacting fast, Nao lifted the burger high in the air, “But you said you’re full! So obviously I get the burger!”
"Oi! Don’t jump to conclusions like that! Give me my burger!"
"No way!"
"Don’t you dare—"
The two continued fighting over the burger, laughing the whole time as they were at it. (A/N: Like a playful couple aw) Finally they decided to just split the quarter so that both of them would get to munch on the remaining burger.
"Gochizosama deshita! Although I’m still hungry," Nao looked down at his tummy, rubbing it affectionately.
"This is probably the reason why you’re so chubby," Cake commented, laughing at his action.
"What! I’m not chubby! Look at this!"
He rolled his sleeves up, and flexed his muscles for Cake to see.
"Hora! I’m not chubby! I have biceps!"
These just made Cake laugh even more than before, while Nao continued to fluster about trying to prove her wrong.

"Ah, it’s getting late," Nao looked over at his watch, "We should head back now.."
That fast? Cake peered over at his watch. 15 minutes to 10PM. How long did they exactly spend arguing over a burger? As they walked back along the pavement where they came from earlier, Cake saw probably what she could consider her love at first sight: A Pooh Bear Plushie, at the UFO Catcher store.
"Is something wrong?"
Cake snapped out of her short trance, “Oh, it’s nothing!”
Nao looked over at the direction where she was previously looking. UFO Catchers?
"Give me a moment, okay?" he let go of Cake’s hand, and made his way over to the store.
10 minutes later, Cake saw Nao emerge from the store, proud with the Pooh Bear Plush she wanted in his arm.
"You wanted this, didn’t you!" He held out the plushie, "It’s my present for you."
Cake stared at the plushie for a few seconds, inwardly fangirling over the exploding cuteness of the toy. She reached out and took it from his hand, hugging it tightly.
"I love it! Thank you, Nao."
They exchanged smiles.

"Well…we’re back,"
Nao climbed into the room after Cake.
"You should head back to bed…it’s late."
"Yeah, I will."
But as Cake turned towards her bed,
"Wait."
Confused, she turned back to Nao again, only to be pulled into a long, warm embrace.
"Happy Birthday."
As he pulled away, Nao placed a kiss on her forehead.
"I hope you enjoyed your time with me."
Face completely flushed, Cake nodded vigorously before turning back to her bed.
"I, I will head back to bed now! Thanks for today…"
She climbed under the covers, placing her new toy by the side of her bed.
Nao climbed out of the window, peering in one last time to look at her face.
"Good night, Cake-chan."

Her eyes shot open, whoa. What was that about? Cake climbed off her bed to her window. She looked out, but all she saw was the usual: quiet road, HDB flats over on the other side of the road.
"So it was all just a dream?"
She sighed, turning back to her bed. The clock read 12AM, her birthday had ended. Everything she saw, was just a figment of her imagination.
Or was it?
Something that wasn’t there before, a Pooh Bear Plush, sat by the side of her bed.
Cake walked over, and picked up the toy, noticing a small slip of paper fall onto the floor.
Bending down, she picked up the paper, and read the message on it.
" また夢に会いましょう! * (´┏_┓`) "
