Nara Sushi & Wedding Crashers
Wedding Crashers I watched a movie called "Wedding Crashers" recently over the course of several days. Three to be exact, so that means it gets a Triple Sleepy Bear Rating!
First Sleepy Bear (0 - 30mins): This is a documentary about Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. The camera crews follow them around and film them interacting with a bunch of no-name actors and extras. It's pretty hilarious watching them clown on wedding ceremonies and crack jokes. There's a scene with a lot of nudity, which is awesome, but then Vince and Owen enter the frame and it's not as awesome. I'm still hopeful though because the nudity to fart joke ratio is in its favor so far. Owen is starting to think he's too old for this (not sure if he's talking about his character or his career here), but Vince talks him into one last crash. There's a pretty funny scene where Vince and Owen are betting on which Bible verse is said at the wedding. Because of this movie, I always bet on 1st Corinthians now.
Second Sleepy Bear Review (30mins - 60 mins): I don't know if I put in the wrong movie or what, but now Vince and Owen are at somebody's house pretending to be spys or something. Yeah, I definitely have the wrong movie because we're not crashing weddings and Vince doesn't want to hook up with girls. Hey look! Some toilet humor.... <yawn>
Third Sleepy Bear Review (60mins - Finish): I started playing guitar, so I'm not really paying attention to the spy adventures now. Will Farrell shows up as a guest in the documentary. He's pretty cool. Owen Wilson still needs to get his nose fixed. It's pretty distracting. Hey look, credits!
Verdict: Watch the first thirty minutes, quote it religiously.
Nara Sushi Nara Sushi on Polk and California is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in terms of price, quality, and quantity. I normally order the Roll Combination 1 (Spicy Tuna Roll, Salmon Roll, & California Roll for $13), but today I went for the Spicy Ocean and the Volcano Roll.
The Spicy Ocean Roll is salmon over spicy salmon and cucumber. It tasted a little bland, but I attribute part of that to the fact that I'm eating sushi on a Saturday and due to me not using soy sauce ever on my sushi. I've also heard complaints that Nara uses too much rice. However, for me, it's just the right amount. I ended up adding a little wasabi to spice things up.
The Volcano Roll features spicy crab, cucumber, and masako with spicy sauce. With rolls like this, you can never really go wrong. You can also never really pick out what you're eating because it's all masked by the spicy sauce. It's very delicious though, and at $7.50 it's worth a try.
All in all, Nara Sushi is my favorite "restaurant sushi". It's great for casual dining, the price is affordable, and it never really disappoints. Highly recommended!
