“I supposed I’m just going to have to fail then.” Rodolphus replied, pouring the bottle out into the street. “But in doing so, I win as a brother. You don’t need to do this, Narcissa.” He said softly, his large hand coming to rest on her shoulder. “Besides, you smell as if you’d had enough already.” His hand slipped to her other shoulder so his arm was firmly around her shoulders. “Come on, you can come and sleep it off at our house.”
He couldn’t begin to understand his sister-in-law’s depression over everything that had happened with Weasley, but if he’d been denied Bella he might have been in a similar position. Besides, she had at least accepted that she would marry Lucius and Weasley had at least been a pureblood (even if a blood traitor at that) unlike Andromeda who had completely shamed her family. Thankfully his marriage was more or less finalized and his parents hadn’t been able to back out of the deal. Of course he didn’t mention it, he knew how much the disgraced Black sister was a sore spot for Bella and Narcissa, but the youngest Black was lucky Lucius was happy to still go through with the marriage after that scandal.
