Your hair is so fricking pretty! Ever since i saw your post about the hairdresser I've been googling the CGM but I found wildly different things. Do you mind sharing the sources you used? Thank you!
aaaah thank you!! and I would love to share!!
the main resource I use is the Curly Hair subreddit. they have an extensive resource list, a complete beginner guide to CGM, recommendations on products and styling, plus a lot of really friendly folks all giving each other tips and tricks. I have learned SO much by looking through their information and the posts there.
*I do want to say that r/CurlyHair focuses a lot specifically on the Curly Girl Method, and CGM is NOT the only way to care for curly hair. not everyone there uses CGM but it is definitely the main hair care method used by the folks there. it’s also the method that I’ve been following.
**the sub is also inclusive for all hair types but -in my experience- is predominantly used by white folks with wavy hair and looser curls. if you have coily/kinky hair and need advice specifically for natural hair then I would also recommend the Natural Hair subreddit as well!
other resources I’ve used have been watching videos of folks on Youtube with similar hair to mine, or who post more general “this is how to do this application” type videos. the main gal I watch is Swavy Curly Courtney, but I’ll also look up random videos by other folks to see how to do certain application techniques. it’s much easier to watch someone and copy vs reading how someone did it.
if others want to add on other resources please do! I’m only a month into CGM so I know practically nothing and am always looking for more resources as well. and I hope this helps :)
