Song of the Day #176

Castevet - "Narrow Hallways" (The Echo & The Light, 2010)

On paper this is little more than a competent shoegazey-twinkly-emo mini-album, but something about it drew me in enough to listen to this record at least twenty times. Castevet (now CSTVT, to avoid confusion with the black metal band of the same name) did absolutely everything right for me. I can barely remember any of their lyrics, but the songs are structured with masterful precision, every guitar tone is beautifully crushing, the whole record soars. There's honestly nothing I'd change about it.
