self sabotage
narumitsu / wrightworth
miles pushes phoenix away not because he feels threatened, not because he feels inferior to him, but because he's scared of hurting him. phoenix has been nothing but kind, caring, gentle to miles but miles knows that he could never repay that.
when phoenix finally asks him out, well, all miles could do was to run away from it; to hide from his true feelings because he's scared of hurting phoenix when all he wanted to do was to care for him.
phoenix isn't scared. he's always been able to see miles and not just in the physical sense but, phoenix sees him for the person that he is - someone who is as if not more gentle and caring as he is, someone who will fight for the truth, someone who did not let his past get in the way of the future.
miles is scared. his walls are always guarded, no one could see him through his cold demeanor and bone-chilling stares. no one until phoenix came into his life for the second time. in a way, he felt comforted. finally, someone could understand him. someone who made miles feels loved when he tells himself everyday that no one would.
and by a leap of faith, miles edgeworth learned to have trust in phoenix wright, but most importantly, himself.
