because of the......... sigh........ because of the "out" and "please" of the previous panel i read the middle one (sasuke to naruto) as "please go out with me" and it took me a second to realize the mistake like i FIGURED something was wrong but only in a "uh. sasuke more straight forward than usual" way
this gimmick of teachers and students is really boring and badly thought out
1/ you can't rewrite sasuke going with his groomer it's too natively relevant, ok i can accept how boring emo to emo it gets
2/ if jiraiya wasn't a creep him teaching sakura would be interesting as she is presented as smart but lacking in direct combat and he's all about that (+ summoning). but he is a creep. so let her find a different teacher who will take care of her gaps in abilities
3/ it is SUCH a missed opportunity to not have naruto learn from tsunade. having naruto be a healer would do good to step out of the heavy fixed gender roles in this manga, help him branch out of his tank combat style, and also make him grow as a person. it would be good for both naruto and the (young) readers to have him look up to a woman, and that skill would develop the caring aspect of his personality (which as this point in the story he doesn't know how to show other than getting angry for people's sake)
also with naruto having the fox spirit inside of him always healing his body pretty fast it would help him realize how he's different to others in a positive way: making him slow down and pay attention to the world around him. he can still be mostly a tank but take on this support role when needed
also also why bother writing that tsunade's brother who died at age 12 looks and act so much like naruto if you're not gonna do anything with it? emotionally it would have been so interesting with her missing someone she cared for so badly and naruto having never been cared for. good bitter yet touching narrative right there that you're sleeping on
reading naruto for the first time and only 1 volume in i'm already pissed at the way the narrative treats sakura

we're told she's smart but she almost never gets to show it and the rare times it happens she gets bested way too quickly even on what she excel at. in missions and fights she's only there to react, not act, or worse be hurt by the enemies specifically to give naruto a reason to go all out to save her. kakashi, her teacher, doesn't care about her and push her aside to train the boys instead. it took i think until vol 4 for her bio at the start to say anything about who she is as a person outside of her crush on sasuke.
all we know about her so far: she's supposedly smart (we don't get to see it), has good control of her chakra but i guess it's not impressive cause kakashi doesn't think so, used to be friend with ino but are now rivals to their common crush on sasuke, used to have a complex about her huge forehead, used to be a liar (inner sakura) to hide her more vulgar part of herself in the hope of seducing sasuke which... i think the author forgot about? she doesn't do it anymore and it's not shown as her having grown, just that she worries to much about sasuke to show any bit of personality. oh, and now she has a complex over not being good enough compared to the boys
so. she used to have ONE friend, seemingly no longer have any (doesn't hang out with anyone). everything is about her crush on sasuke. she's smart but also not. she's weak. the one interesting bit about her (lying) got dropped
keeping in mind those charas are asians (possibly asian + something else, so most of the hair and eyes colors that would be unnatural for them to have will be changed, unless there's something in plot that can explain them) charas who aren't mentioned stay the way they are i guess
naruto: darker skintone. blond hair can stay but will be darker. i know his dad is technically blond but that fact is ignored: naruto is blond because of the demon in him. his eyes will be dark tho. i cannot give him both blond hair and blue eyes, it's too cruel
sakura: natural dark hair but she dyed it to pink when she was young (on ino's advice) cause she likes the color and thought it would take attention away from her forehead. around shippuden she doesn't have this complex anymore and lets it go back to her original color. darker skintone
ino: pale skin, blond hair and blue eyes... because she's albino. also the long strand of hair in front of her face is both cause she think it's cool but also to protect her eyes who are weak to sunlight
kankuro: brown skin, dark brown hair, black eyes. also freckles
temari: same as kankuro but she bleach her hair
gaara: like naruto he has an unnatural hair color (red) thanks to the demon. outside of that, as a lighter skin (not pale) than his siblings to make him stand out from them even more. large black eyes that people find creepy (appears to have very little white thanks to the darkness around his eyes). has freckles too but less noticeable
