i absolutely despise male Naruto fans' love for Hinata. like if i see a man say he loves Hinata it's immediately a red flag to me. not because i think Hinata doesn't deserve to be loved or have fans but because they love her for terrible and misogynistic reasons.

Hinata's perfect to them because she doesn't have a personality and because her entire existence and character arc are centered around Naruto. since the beginning of the show/manga, she's only been the girl who's in love with Naruto, who admires Naruto, who'd do everything to help Naruto, who'd die for Naruto. she spends most of her screentime thinking or talking about Naruto. even her cool moments (like that scene where Neji beats her up and she keeps standing up and fighting anyway because she doesn't want to give up) are centered around Naruto, because she says it's him who inspired her to be like that.

other than that, she doesn’t really have any personality. all she does is being shy and blush when Naruto is around. she doesn't talk, doesn't take any space, doesn't argue with anyone, she never makes joke or comes up with something smart. she's just. there. a blank paper sheet. a pretty flower in love with the main character.

and isn’t is exactly what misogynistic men love in a woman?

male Naruto fans love Hinata because she's empty, has no personality or real character arc, because she only exists for Naruto, to be in love with him.

and i absolutely hate that. especially when they use her to hate on Sakura - because Sakura is guilty of... having a personality and ambitions that don't revolve around Naruto and of not liking him back.

don't get me wrong, i have nothing against Hinata. she's just the victim of Kishimoto's misogyny. she's poorly written because he cannot and doesn't want to write women. i like her alright, and i think she had a lot of potential. but i don't like the way male fans like her.
