The effect of tip position on breathing is very real. Sometimes patients will tell me that they have a hard time breathing through their nose until they lift their tip up. This maneuver helps open the internal and external nasal valves which helps airflow. Thus, surgically speaking, elevation and support of the tip is a useful approach to long term improvement of nasal air flow. Couple this with spreader grafts and a septoplasty as needed and patients can really see tremendous benefit. For more about nasal airway reconstruction, click the link in bio. Also, the latest episode of the Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Podcast covers septoplasty and related topics.
