goodnight my lovelies eat that treat read that fic and waste that day for me
So I’ve stayed back and read a lot of posts and opinions and stories and I’ve made up my mind about this:
I was in the m&g with the 3 girls that had to pick 2 of them. And I felt so terrible for their friend so I might be a little biased because I was there, but putting that aside fact is fact and I believe that whatever went wrong with the sent messages without follow ups, and made fans get their hopes up only for them to be crushed again, has to be rectified.
Instead of coming up with lame excuses, apologise. I think we’d appreciate honesty before anything else. Instead we are made to feel awful for days without a response and then get a half assed excuse. I was lucky enough to get to the m&g and have the best time of my life, but there is a problem that needs to be addressed.
Lastly, @taylorswift we love you and appreciate all you and your team do. In my opinion, this could’ve been avoided and it can be fixed easily. Love you all.
{21/06/16} - this is my contribution #irlstudying and #studyblrs get real.
here is a picture of my desk, exactly the way it looked like after last night’s study session. no filter, no “organised chaos”. just the way i left it after finishing studying at 12am. i hardly ever clean up after myself when i finish studying. the state my desk is in, is usually how it normally looks like. this is what my real studying looks like.
And yet. i still make pretty notes. i rewrite and rewrite my notes to make it look beautiful. i make my bullet journal look beautiful. i spend more than 45 minutes on them, most of the time. that, too, is what my real studying is.
so, for all who are uncertain of what “real studying” is, it means effort and perseverance, combined with efficiency. nothing other than that. only you get to judge what your study methods are, do not judge anyone else’s, as you may not know how they learn. i have been feeling less and less confident in the community’s acceptance, so i would like to voice my own opinions. pretty notes, popular stationery, scribbled notes, messy desks, they are all part of studying. you’re here to learn, that is the bottom line.
And thus the atrocity we can now call Eurovision 2k15 has come to an end.
bout to pass out so ill do more replies and stuff in the morning before work!
You mentioned pre-52 Kory versus New 52 Kory a while ago when it comes to her being a feminist symbol. Can you elaborate?
Hell yeah I can!
So, I think I mentioned it in a post about her sexuality, which was something that Shelly (theflyingwonder) actually referenced in a post about Kory earlier.
When Kory was introduced to us in October 1980, she was introduced in a flimsy outfit that stuck with her for a long time (and she’s still in a flimsy outfit, though it looks even worse than her first costume) and that alone would have been something that could have eliminated her from being a feminist symbol. She had revealing clothing and was therefore, made for the male gaze.
Right? I think a lot of feminists kind of wrote her off because of that and if I’m being honest, if I was alive at that time (I wasn’t even a thought yet, my parents were still in high school at this point in time but let’s pretend) I probably would have written her off too. Clothing shouldn’t matter but at the same time, it’s a woman who was drawn by a man for a mostly male fan base which is what would turn me off.
But even though she wore a skimpy costume, she wasn’t created solely for the male gaze. Kory was complex, she had emotions that she embraced entirely, she had a sense of independence and a set of morals that make her almost like a real person. She had more autonomy than most female characters had in comics up to that point in time, so she wasn’t just in this costume showing off skin for these comic fans to jerk off to. You feel me?
Now, looking at the New 52, she’s been pretty much reduced to an object that caters to the male gaze entirely. I’ve heard that she’s gotten better and she’s being written better, she has thoughts and emotions that are beyond “Let me fuck you”
And let me clarify, wanting sex without a connection is not a bad thing. But a female character who is being written by a man - she has no autonomy, she can’t tell the writer that he shouldn’t do what he is, etc etc - and having sex with everyone that comes her way (okay not everyone but just bear with me) is not inherently feminist. Like Shelly said earlier, it’s pseudo female empowerment move. DC wants you to believe that she’s empowering because she’s in control over what she wants but let’s be real; the one in control of what she wants is a man. The man who is writing her, is writing her to cater to a male fanbase.
Again, I’ve heard she’s gotten better and that she’s been written better. Volume 2 of RHatO is a way better comic, I’m sure. But she’s still being used as an object.
“She kicked a nuke” is not empowerment. She’s strong but she’s still not empowering.
