Girls night: One of my favorite nights of the week. I was getting dolled up and ready to go out with Keres, Ashlyn, Nyx, Nat, Valkyrie, Rune, Hally, Aurelia and Briar for drinks, maybe some karaoke, and see what the night brought to us. After the past week I’d had, I was desperate for a night out with my girls honestly; all this court bullshit was getting to be too much.
“Hey, you ready?” Keres called from outside my door and I slipped out quietly, shutting the door behind me.
“Yeah, is everyone else here and ready to go?” I fell into step with her, looping my arm through hers with a grin of my own.
“Yup! Left ‘em in the great hall chatting with the guys before we take off. Where’s Wolffe at? I saw Sinker and Boost but not your wolf.”
“He’s passed out in bed. He had a pretty long campaign and was just wiped out, the poor love.” I shot a soft smile over my shoulder at my door. Poor man had come stumbling in looking ready to drop while I was getting dressed, so I made sure to let him know where I was going before helping him with his armor so he could go to bed.
“Awww poor baby,” Keres teased, smirking as we entered the great hall where the other girls were waiting on us, milling about with their respective mates and boyfriends if they were there. “Alright ladies, let’s get going. We’ve got a lot of bars to hit.” She was practically crowing, excitement lighting up her face while Birdie just sighed and shook his head, Puffin looking just as apprehensive about this little excursion we were about to embark on.
“Oh, it’ll be fine. We’re just a group of girls dressed up for a night out in the city. What could possibly go wrong?” I rolled my eyes, scoffing slightly at the idea of us getting into too much trouble.
“Oh yeah, what could possibly go wrong? Those were your words, right Dani?” Rune shouted, ducking as some guy tried to punch her, laying hands on the poor man and zapping him with some electricity.
“How was I supposed to know Briar was going to pop her mouth off?” I shouted back, slamming a guy into a table before cracking a pool cue on his back. “Besides, this is kinda fun!”
“Says you! I didn’t even do anything!” Ashlyn shot back with a yelp when a fist connected with her mouth, busting her lip wide open much to her irritation. Briar and Hally were both cackling up a storm as they got into it, Hally diving behind someone and Briar pushing them back so they fell over Hally. They worked in tandem to beat the shit out of the Fae that Briar pissed off by running her mouth. Val had a man in a headlock, laughing as she used him as a shield from two of his buddies, headbutting one and kicking the other in the gut, sending him flying back while Nyx, Nat, and Aurelia all ganged up on a bigger Fae who was intent on going for Aurelia. Fifteen minutes and a bunch of bruises and busted lips and faces later, we were sitting at a table trying to catch our breath.
“Here,” Cy, our bartender, set a bottle down in the middle of the table. “On the house ladies.” He was chuckling as he went back behind the bar while the rest of us cheered and started banging on the table while I took the first pull from the bottle before passing it over to Keres. We passed the bottle around, everyone beaten and bloodied up, grinning despite the scuffs and blood and bruising.
“At this rate, we’ll need another one Cy.” I called over to the elven man who just shook his head, laughing, and I took another long drink from the bottle while everyone started banging on the table with their hands again. “You know, I gotta say, that was a lot of fun. Girls night was an absolute success.” I was looking at my girls, grinning from ear to ear, everyone chiming in with their own agreements.
“So, anyone wanna tell me why we got called down here by the guards?”
Birdie and the guys came walking in and Val took one look at them before looking at us. “Grab the bottle and SCATTER!” She bellowed, everyone leaping into action and bolting out the side door, laughing as the guys swore and ran after us. Girls night was definitely a success and I couldn’t wait for the next one.
