there is a universe very close to canon where dean gets into collecting angel-related kitsch kinda as a bit kinda not. saying “look it’s you,” to cas, pointing at a hideous angel baby nightlight. giving headstones with angels on them a nod of acknowledgement while grave robbing. a banged up saint michael medallion hanging from baby’s rearview that he shoplifted from a pawn shop. perhaps even a statuette like the one he tipped over in the beautiful room way back when, unknowingly toppling the first domino that would lead to cas’s first rebellion
