happy new year everyone. sorry i havent posted my art on tumblr for the better half of the year...real life stuff got me bad, to put it simply, and didn't feel mentally fit to post anything for a good major part of it.

but i've slowly getting better along the way and these are some of the best things i've gotten up to and created during my "artistic silence". 2023 was a pretty hard year, but at last it's over and we can look forward to the next best things we can create. 🖤

good morning!

first of all i wanted to apologize for being so dead-quiet lately art-wise...i’ve been pretty busy irl ever since my classes started, dealing with college stuff, looking into new career opportunities and finding love. i’ve also been trying to put all my ideas and projects into art while also doing my best to practice and nail anatomy. so have some stuff i’ve done since march! i have more, and i also plan on making stuff like reference sheets for some new upcoming characters and building more in-depth lore for my au.

so have some ml birds, some stuff of @featherbutter’s characters (such as edgar...you must already be familiar with him at this point lol) and his scorpion guy, stinger! (technically my attempts at giving him scorpion-platey hands). also my own boy alba, an albinistic glam guy who i’m currently working on a rival for...n who’s also got the white hair to compete.

my wrist may be feeling bad again, but we stay strong. happy valentine’s day!

for this pleasant festivity date...i bring you a romantic edgar (you may remember him from one of my previous posts- he’s one of @featherbutter’s ocs), a little shipping meme with mothe and toffee, and some sketch picks from january. forgive me for the absolute potato quality of my second one...meant to be a glam/strixene fashioned out of that one interactive pyroraptor jurassic world toy, but instead of saving it i just took a screenshot of it lol

i may not be the most fanart-happy person out there, but i’m watching mha and ever since i first found class 1-b’s description in the tvtropes page for the anime, i fell in love with this guy who shows up. like. in one season and remains in the background of any other episode. so have this plain-ish little thing i made of my boy shihai...with a bad attempt at edgy dialogue. enjoy!

some glam feather development tests using my friend @/spriklezdaogre’s character, edgar! his own world follows different rules from my ml au, socially and biologically, but i still thought he had a nice design to serve as my guinea pig for this one time.

basically i’ve always thought of them following cassowary/general bird logic in that they are all born the same color and with same markings like the pic below (save for a little bit of hue difference or featherhair texture) and develop their proper adult plumage upon reaching puberty.

(not actually part of the ed plumage sequence, just a keet i made as one of my many coloration tests)

since they reach adulthood at 6 years old, you can read the 4 and 5 year captions on the first one as 12 and 15 years old respectively. the second one is the 6+ one, where that’s my take on ed as a full fledged adult. enjoy!

together with my new glam/strixene body hc, where they’re humanoid monsters based on dromaeosaurids and thus have feathers and the gnarly-looking sickle claw on their feet. i wanted to highlight his arms and more monstery nature better, so i gave him big monster limbs and claws. stubby tail still never changed. this year is when i finally make him his brutally overdue updated show outfit :v
