#NamelessWoman #transwomen #nonbinary #BlaQueer #BlackBooksMatter #NativesAreStillHere #sciencefiction #sliceoflife For some reason, I've had this wonderful book for over a year and only recently rediscovered it and read it. What I loved: each story is written by trans and nonbinary indigenous and/or Black people, many of the sci fi/cyberpunk stories were spot on, and each spoke to the realities of the culture we live in, there was even a story about a conservative Republican politician who happened to have a trans daughter who was murdered and the creation of a bill that didn't cater to the left but still protected trans women was amazing!!! Plus there was an #Utena influenced story that I totally geeked over. I found many authors that I'm adding to my favorites list! Things to note: there were very few romantic relationships between Black and indigenous people, they tended to end up with white people, some of the formatting and editing for a few stories was a bit odd, and the plot for a couple of stories was hard to follow. https://www.instagram.com/p/B0hNUb_A-6F/?igshid=1ix20pkveovd8

#thefourfoldway #NativesAreStillHere #indigenoussovereignty #Blackhistory #integratedreview As a Native who's physically cut off from my culture, reading such a thorough and clear tome of the roots all indigenous cultures share unfurled me to the core. It affirmed current practices and values while providing even deeper reasons and ways to do even better. It actually guides you through what the shadow aspects are and how to repurpose and heal them. It doesn't teach sacrifice, but Wholeness. I actually finished reading my first book in years that wasn't for work (one of my roles is as Sensitivity Editor), and that still took me over a year. #Zenzele was a much-needed breath of my other ancestral lands. Now I've begun to read #SovereignErotics and I have vowed to ONLY read integrated works by Black and other indigenous people going forward. Settler media has done its best to destroy everything we are, #whitefantasy has overtaken all of the stories we used to hand down to one another. No more. I will endeavor to reclaim the creative mental landscapes we have been denied. #BlackBooksMatter #NativesAreStillHere

I actually finished a book, #Zenzele, even though it took me a year. And I've started reading a new one, #SovereignErotics, and I'm pleased. Overall, outside of some of @cuilpress books, I will ONLY endeavor to read works by Black and other indigenous people. I #caunnot read settler crap any longer; it has long sought to kill my spirit. No more. I will only heed my ancestors and kin. <3 we've been apart too long. #BlackBooksMatter #NativesAreStillHere
