WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
When it comes to Natural hair we all seem to be scientists.. trust me trying, and doing things we have never even heard of, have you ever heard of onions? YES!.girls are doing the most to grow their hair instead of enjoying it. I want to talk about the obvious things maybe not obvious to other people but what are some of the habits we have adapted and we think they are alright. To be honest i also have little habits i do thinking my hair will handle it.
Lets start with the obvious
1. HEAT!: run away from that blow dryer, run far away from it. Ok not too far but if you have the materials that can handle the harsh heat from the blow dryer then their is not need to run. These materials start from Heat protectant spray( i don't think i have found one in Nairobi, by that i mean an original one like legit..legit, feel me lol) the other is deep condition your hair before with a good protein conditioner, steam your hair then deep condition, Section your hair into four section and start with one section blowing, make sure you have applied the heat protectant spray or what ever heat protection spray you have then blow your hair in those sections.
2. DISCIPLINE: i think for everyone who has asked me how i became natural and what i do for my hair to look amazing (sometimes), i always say discipline. Just like the Bible has its on rules we must follow for us to be close to God we need to have some sort of discipline and let go of some old habits. Your hair is no longer relaxed its natural, don't treat your hair like its relaxed because its not. Some products are meant for relaxed hair, some oils are meant for relaxed hair not your natural hair eg. KOMBA lol.. that's the vaseline looking like oil, that clogs your poles and just stays on your scalp you must consider changing to the watery oil like olive oil etc
3.EXPECTATIONS: Listen we all have different backgrounds and different ancestors, yes this can also affect our hair texture, Just because we look alike and our skin tone is the same that means our hair will look the same or have the same texture no!..one of the reasons i went natural was because i saw curly and beautiful hair of some bloggers on you tube and i automatically thought my hair will be the bomb as well, i was not really disappointed because i loved my texture immediately i saw it grow slowly and i embraced it, i automatically started searching for bloggers with a similar texture to mine and that helped me a LOT!
4. IGNORE THE NEGATIVITY: i was also one of those people to laugh at someone i see, if their hair is just a total mess, but i realized that everyone has their own texture and probably someone out there is also laughing at my hair texture, heck they are laughing at my blog now * her hair isn't even pretty her texture is just rough* DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU YOUR HAIR IS NOT BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE IT IS! always remember, these people are saying MUCH more about themselves than they are about you, Keep your head up and love your original roots darling! Rock that Afro puff
5. COMBING: do not over comb your hair or don't comb at all if you want those curls to pop, You have a natural wide tooth comb, your fingers!..LOL
LOVE YOUR CURLS IN WHAT EVER FORM THEY ARE, GOD GAVE THEM TO YOU AND LET NO MAN OR WOMAN TELL YOU OTHERWISE. be blessed. kisses
