=> Vihorlat (1,075.5 m above sea level) is the highest peak of the Vihorlatské vrchy volcanic mountain range. The mountain range itself was named after the hill. Vihorlat is one of the inactive extinct volcanoes. When viewed from a distance, it is quite easily recognizable by its seemingly "cut" top.
=> Despite the fact that it is the highest peak of the Vihorlat Hills, it is not one of the most visited by tourists due to its location in a military district and the lack of a marked hiking trail to its summit.
=> The top parts of Vihorlat belong to the protected area Vihorlatský prales, abbreviated as Vihorlat, which was included in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list in the category of Carpathian beech forests in 2007.
