Quite chuffed that I got the kids talking about mushrooms at #forestschool today - specifically which were safe to eat and those which might give you tummy ache! We also sorted safe and unsafe foods from nuts, berries, tree bark, plants & minibeasts (yep!) after ‘foraging’ cards with photos of them on site using a handy map. At the end the kids could ID an on site silver birch tree ❤️ 🌲 (as well as know you can eat much of it!). My son is absolutely mainlining episodes of @backshall.steve ‘s #Deadly60 TV series (and also this book) at the moment! We are all loving Steve’s enthusiasm as he comes face to face with yet another bullet ant or giant spider, plus his obvious respect and gentle nature with all creatures cute to hideous.
