In 1936 the emergency tow vessel Patrão Lopes run aground next to Forte do Bugio (where the Tagus river meets the Atlantic Ocean just outside Lisbon city, Portugal) while towing a rock carrying vessel.
The towed vessel sucumbed to the rough sea, starboard to Patrão Lopes which nearly caused its sinking too. The newspapers of that time report the tow vessel did not sink only thanks to its sturdy hull.
The photo above shows the divers trying to repair the damages in the Patrão Lopes in order to remove it from the sand bank.
