This sword of honour was awarded, by order of King Louis XV, to the privateer captain Pierre Anguier (1715–1787) of Dunkirk. It was presented to him on 30 April 1746 in recognition of his valour and services to the Crown during a highly unusual secret mission aimed at coming to the aid of the English Catholic prince Charles Edward Stuart.

Lloyd's Patriotic Fund Sword and Belt of £30 Value to Mr. Wm. Augs. Thompson, Midshipman Of H.M.S. Pallas, dated 6th and 22nd April, 1806
The presentation inscription reads: 'From The Patriotic Fund At Lloyd's To Mr. Wm. Augs. Thompson Midshipman Of H.M.S. Pallas For His Gallant & Spirited Conduct On The Boarding & Carrying In The Boats Of That Ship, The French National Corvette La Tapa-Geuse Of 14 Guns & 95 Men In The River Gavonne On The 6th Of April 1806. As Recorded In The London Gazette Of The 22nd Of That Month'
