yess i can see why our world is like this when people feel the need to kill someone over a fictional crack couple
nawsome replied to your post“I’m convinced that Haku is genderfluid. Maybe physically male and...”
Or maybe he's just a boy who defies gender roles and dresses femininity?
Well, yeah, but three things (I will use male pronouns for Haku for this):
I want more queer characters. Specifically, I want more non-binary ones. Haku's actions, out of all the characters, come closest to "supporting" him as non-binary (though Naruto's Oiroke no Jutsu leaves some options open to play around with).
Haku didn't really need to wear a female outfit whilst picking herbs. No one knew his face anyway, so it wasn't really a matter of hiding his identity. He probably just wore it because he felt like being a girl that day. Yes, it could also be in accordance to your suggestion, but I'd like to use it to paint one of the few plausibly non-binary characters as an actual non-binary character.
Haku doesn't seem all that bothered by Naruto calling him "Nee-chan." He reveals his sex/gender at the end of their little meeting, and does it almost as an afterthought, as though he'd forgotten it was important. Granted, it could have also been done as a joke, but Haku is absolutely fine with Naruto referring to him as a girl, and could also be explaining more out of a "oh yeah, this is a thing people care about, right."
Basically, Haku could just be a guy that likes wearing women's clothing, but I am rather entranced by the idea of him being genderfluid, and he's one of the few characters that has some support to the idea.
I am Not Yours
I am not your pretty princess. I am not your evil queen. I am not the girl who waited For you Once upon a dream.
I am not your doting girlfriend. I am not your docile wife. I am not the patient lover Who would take, for you, a knife.
I am not your loving sister, I am not your precious aunt, I am not your mother, cousin, Daughter, there to ask your wants.
I am not your willing victim, I am not your pleasure road,I am not your way to find release, Of any manner, young or old.

I belong to me, alone.

The best part of having a mildly-popular ship as your OTP is growing with it.
At first, it's just a ship. You don't necessarily like or dislike it, but sometimes you see some cute art and a smile crosses your face because it doesn't matter what ship it is when something is that cute.
Then, you see someone that adores the ship talk about it. They mention hidden moments, small nuances in meaning, small expressions and glances, and their eyes light up as they talk about their ship and how amazing it iis, and you think, hey, I kind of like this one now.. It's not big, and it's not my favorite, but I can see why they like it.
Then, you find the post. You find the pages-long rant on everything that person before had said. You see the pairing saving each other's lives, panels with translations and mistranslations and how each one would affect the meaning, how their behaviors change around one another, how long they've known each other, everything.
Holy shit, you think.
You start hunting down more. You want to read more, to see more about what makes this pairing so special. You want to understand the light in the eyes of the person that first got you interested. You want to understand these characters and their love for each other.
At the end of the day, you think...
Hey, I think I just found my new OTP.
Or if you're a little less calm...
THE FEELS, WHY, NO YOU CAN'T DO THIS MY BABIES I WILL LOVE THEM FOREVER I JUST CAN'T--
Have fun finding your new OTP, guys.

Rumplestilskin dying before the break would have been the perfect place tbh. He lived a life of crime and he died a hero let him have that legacy and let his son who has always been good live jfc
Yeah, that could have felt like a satisfying ending? and in a way it almost feels like....it cheapens the idea of Rumple's sacrifice, the idea that he did it for Belle and Bae, for it to not only be reversed, but for Bae to die in his place?
idk, I'm just so like....there are parts of it where I'm like okay, under these circumstances, it makes sense that Neal made the choices that led to this, because I do think we were leading up to a point where he was going to feel the same desperation to get to his own son that his dad felt for him? And I think it made sense for him to, in that moment of needing to get back to Henry, to say to hell with the cost, and i think it made sense for him to realize he has to pay the price, because he's not going to do what his dad did. like. under those series of events, neal made choices that felt in character.
but what doesn't fit for me is that i don't feel like those series of events fit outside of this one little arc. i don't think it fits the fact that rumple's had a long arc that led to him making a selfless choice for once, and i think it's repetitive for neal to lose his life by making a selfless choice when he's lost a lot by doing so before. so for me it was like...the death felt in character but didn't really feel like they fit in the story--and if they've had this planned from the early stages of season 3, I don't get why they wrote a lot of 3A the way they did.
About Dhoom 3
Okay, I was trying to edit and goofed up.
Original Ask: Hey I really appreciate your blog but I really didn't like the review of Dhoom 3. The only thing you really addressed was that it didn't pass the bechdel test, I don't remember anything about the blatant sexual objectification and how Katrina Kaif barely got ten minutes in the movie that wasn't dancing naked. Also the song itself fetishizing her as an "Asian goddess" and putting her in the damsel in distress situation. She barely had a personality let alone screen time (as well a Victoria)
My response:
Hi! Thanks for the comments. :)
Definitely the way Dhoom 3 treats its female characters is abysmal. I was surprised by how much I liked the movie as a result. What I really like is thinking about ways to make the movie focus on women instead of men. But the concerns you bring up are troubling, and I can certainly understand why someone wouldn’t like the movie for those reasons (or others).
