Meeting Naya Rivera at the 2012 Alma Awards!

Ohmigosh. Okay! So yesterday was the craziest day ever. Allie (@lelittlelamb) and I volunteered for the 2012 Alma Awards set up in Pasadena on Saturday and in return we each got one ticket to go to the actual show on Sunday, September 16th! When we arrived at the red carpet set up we had the brilliant plan to stand at the very beginning of the carpet so that we could catch Naya, introduce ourselves/mention the @NayaArmy, and ask for a picture! Everything was fine for about a half hour until security decided to move everyone. The only spot for us to go was down the street where you couldn't see anything and there was no shade in the 100 degree heat. Basically we wanted to cry. So we waited and waited and watched all of the Latin celebrities arrive (from a far) on the red carpet. Naya's car was super late and we kept getting scared (lol). We knew she was on her way so we just figured that she was stuck in major traffic. The show was actually about to begin and we were getting super antsy when low and behold we see this Goddess in a black pants suit step out of a black car. Even from far away we could see it was her. SO WE FREAK OUT (naturally) and I immediately tweet: SHE'S WEARING A BLACK PANTS SUIT!!!

Since we weren't allowed to go down to the beginning of the red carpet we decided to wait down at the end of it (near the entrance to the auditorium). We KNEW she'd have to walk by us and we KNEW that if she heard us calling her name she wouldn't just ignore us. So we patiently waited until she finished her red carpet interviews and turned the corner to us. When I saw her...I think my brain turned off...I don't...remember. But Allie and I immediately started to say "NAYA! HEY NAYA!! HI!!" She saw us and smiled so before she could leave (to do one or interview at the top of the stairs) I said "NAYA! I RUN YOUR ARMY!" at the same time that Allie said "NAYA! SHE RUNS YOUR ARMY!" (haha). She looked at us in recognition and said "Let me sign something for you!"

MY BRAIN FROZE...OR MAYBE IT ACTUALLY TURNED OFF. I didn't even realize I was still holding my envelope with my Alma Awards ticket in my hand. So I fumbled with it and handed it to her while Allie pulled out a permanent marker. So she's signing the envelope and I can tell it's more than just an autograph of her name cuz it took her awhile to finish what she was writing. Obviously I'm freaking out inside, so much so that I'm just standing there and NOT talking hahaha So it was a little awkward on my part. After she gave me back the envelope that she had written <3 NAYA and STRONGEST ARMY EVER on it, I thanked her and she signed Allie's envelope for her and @Bagelvera's DVD. It happened so fast and just like that she was gone, entering the auditorium because the show had already started.

So Allie and I decide to go in too. We see her in the lobby walking around (I think trying to figure out which door to go in to) so we go up to her and Allie asks if she can take a photo with us. She says "Sure" and then posed with me first and then Allie. We say goodbye to her and immediately rush to the ladies room to collect ourselves (lol). There was a tiny bit of heavy breathing involved, okay? SO we pull ourseleves together and eventually go up to our seats in the balcony.

The show was fun and kind of took a long time to film because they shot it all out of order. When Naya won in her TV Comedy Actress category we screamed REALLY loud for her. In her speech she thanked Glee, Ryan, Brad, and Ian. As well as her family and fans. We were so proud!!! Then out of nowhere this big security guard comes up to us and asks if we want to go downstairs and be seatfillers so we obviously say HELL YES and follow him down.

We get to actually sit in Naya's section, about six rows back but we don't see her. So we sit through Christina Agulera's special award tribute and then the show goes to a commercial break. I finally see Naya walking around the front of the stage with TWO awards! We were confused because for some reason the second award (Best Female Artist) wasn't announced so we figured Oh awesome, she won both!! So she comes all the way around and we're like OMG she's gonna pass right by us! So as she comes by holding her two golden shiny awards (one in each hand) me and Allie say at the same time "CONGRATS, NAYA!" She turns to look at us as she's walking by and says "THANKS!" then leaves the auditorium.

We couldn't leave our seats so we had to watch her go and then stay for the final bit of the show. We were SO beat from all the excitement and our three encounters with Naya in two hours. The day was definitely a success and she couldn't have been nicer! She didn't have to autograph ANYTHING for me! I didn't even ask her to. It was HER idea. She didn't have to take pictures with us in the lobby, she could have just gone straight to her seat. She was so quiet, soft spoken, and just super sweet. I hope to redeem myself next time and actually say a few sentences to her instead of being awkward the whole time haha

SO THAT'S THE STORY OF HOW ME AND ALLIE MET NAYA!!!

Oh and P.S. I'm a genius and had my dress on backwards. All. Day.
