Would you mind writing some Arkos fluff, where they cuddle with blankets by the fire place?
It had been a long few days. Solitas was nothing like any of the remaining “team”, formally known as JNPR, had ever been used to in their lifetime. Pyrrha Nikos, after several deadly sleepless nights, continued to carry her partner across the plane of snow and ice. They had taken up the mission in hopes of aiding an Atlas research team that was stationed in the middle of the tundra. They had dropped out of contact with their main lab a week from when team “Arkos” had set off. Considering Grimm couldn’t survive in the climate (and the humans and faunus who ventured there barely could themselves), the threat to the researchers and scientists were unknown.
No one else would take up the mission. Except for Jaune and Pyrrha. After the Fall of Beacon, the two had dedicated their time to aiding anyone they could, no matter the risk. They both knew they would keep one another alive as long as they could. They weren’t going to make the mistake of parting again.
Now there they were; Jaune freezing to death, and Pyrrha barely hanging on herself. Blinding white and piercing winds were holding her down and dragging her as she trudged forward in the snow. It felt as though pins and needles were stabbing Pyrrha’s feet, hands, and face. She unconsciously used her semblance to try and push the “needles” away, only making it harder for her to hold onto Jaune, in turn repelling the metal of his armor.
Suddenly, in the distance, a light shown bright. Pyrrha’s eyes fixated on the yellow blur and used the last of her energy in a burst. Sprinting as hard as she could through the knee deep snow, she saw a large gray building forming bigger and bigger in size before she collapsed less than a foot away from her goal.
Her vision started to go black. But before it did, a new light appeared and consumed her sight. A shadow appeared and grew closer, as did the darkness of her sight leaving her…
Jaune’s eyes fluttered open and he felt warmer than he once did. His aura had kept him from dying, just barely. However the feeling of utter uselessness was still ever present. He’d started feeling light in the head after the third day, but refused to make his partner worry. However, he should have known, after the first day spent with Pyrrha Nikos, that he couldn’t keep a secret from her. She saw right through his forced smile and his overly flushed face. And she, yet again, carried his weight along with her own… He’d thought they would have been past that by now, but there he had been; defenseless and reliant on his partner more than he felt he should have.
His eyes adjusted to the new element, and Jaune was surprised to find himself in a more familiar setting. Instead of the sea of white, he was sitting comfortably in a cozy more rustic style living area. A fire crackled and flickered in front of him. He tried to shift his seating on what he assumed to be a very comfy sofa, but felt something holding him tightly and restricting his movement.
“She wouldn’t leave your side,” a voice came from across the room. A tall man in a lab coat shuffled into the room with two large cups of cocoa in his hands. He placed them on the table in front of the sofa and smiled. Jaune looked at whom he presumed to be one of the researchers and then to his side. Pyrrha was next to him, her arm wrapped around him tightly and her head nestled into his chest.
The heat of the fire wasn’t the only thing making Jaune’s face feel hot. The researcher laughed playfully at the boy. “You two have come a long way. I’m guessing the Kingdom sent you? Those busybodies always flatline if we don’t call every few minutes, I swear. They’re like a dotting mother!” The researcher wiped a tear from his eye before his expression became a bit more serious. “My deepest apologies to you, my boy. Busy minds all too close to a breakthrough seem to ignore a few hundred calls from their benefactors… We never imagined they would send two young ones into this icy wasteland… We’ve already chewed out the officials who sent you and let them know you two young ones are safe. You two will be well compensated and we will personally send you back in one of our snowmobiles. Until then, rest. You two snow bunnies deserve a quiet moment.”
With that, he gave Jaune a wink and left the room to give them “more privacy”. Before the young huntsman could properly explain he and Pyrrha weren’t exactly “snow bunnies” in the way the man had implied, he could feel his partner stirring awake. Looking down at her, and consisting the position, it was very bad that Jaune was just now noticing how long Pyrrha’s eyelashes were as her eyes fluttered open.
“Jaune…,” she cooed as she began to sit up. Noticing her arm tightly around his form, she quickly pulled it away and became as small as she could while scooting away from him towards the other side of the sofa.
Jaune, still red in the face, explained all that the researcher had to him. Pyrrha visibly lighted as if a weight had been removed from her shoulders. “I see,” she said with gladness. “Well then,” she picked up one of the mugs of cocoa, “we shouldn’t let this go to waste.” She blew on the beverage before taking a sip of the sweet drink. The stream from the cups wafted the chocolaty aroma towards the two. It was comforting. Both their postures became less tense and they melted into the sofa. In turn, they slumped into one another as they moved with the grooves of the worn out cushions. Their shoulders bumped into one another. Normally, they would have pulled away and apologized for the bump. But at this moment, they ignored the leaning on one another, and enjoyed the much needed heat; from the fire, the cocoa, and the person sitting next to them.
“Hey, Pyrrha,” Jaune called softly as he allowed his head to tilt and rest lightly atop of her’s. “Thank you for saving my life again.”
“Any time, Jaune.” She closed her eyes and took in the moment of much needed peace. “As long as we can have more moments like this, I’d gladly walk across miles of snow with you on my back as hypothermia slowly sets in.”
Jaune sat up and looked down at his partner with a very concerned look.
“I’m kidding!” she giggled. “You were very light and it wasn’t THAT cold… I’m just saying that ‘this’,” she lifted up her mug and glanced around the cozy room to have her gaze meet with his, “I’d fight a thousand and one Grimm blindfolded to have more of this.”
“You know what, me too.” Jaune held up his mug and clinked it with Pyrrha’s. The two took a nice warm drink and sat in blissful silence. They spent a long while enjoying nothing but the company of one another as the fire’s crackling filled the quiet of the room.
It was a wonderful evening spent only to be followed up by a much less life threatening trip back to Atlas.
