a damsel in distress//heidi and matteo

Hercules : Aren't you... a damsel in distress?
Meg : I'm a damsel, I'm in distress, I can handle this. Have a nice day.
Matteo wished he could have claimed that he was not always a hothead. Unfortunately, Matteo always acted before he thought when he saw someone in danger. His father always seemed to treat women as delicate creatures, particularly, Matteo’s mother. Sometimes, Matteo wondered if he wanted a daughter. Someone that looked like his wife. Sure, she would not have been heir to the kingdom, but maybe he would have actually showed that hypothetical girl some type of affection.
As it was, Matteo might have internalized some of those behaviors. Or, maybe it was just that so many women reminded him of his little sister. As much as he tried, he could never stop thinking about Mari. He was always worried about her. Was she struggling? Did she miss him as well?
Matteo found those thoughts racing through his head as he walked through the Alder Woods. Subconsciously, he was making the walk towards his old home. Thankfully, Matteo was stopped by a strange sight in the middle of the trail. A woman was standing next to someone. It seemed normal, until the other party began to use shadow magic. Matteo drew his sword.
“Halt! Leave the maiden alone.”
a gift fit for a queen
@nbmadalheidis
It was difficult to find a present for a woman who had literally saved her life. However, Minsoo had tried her best. She had scoured the entire marketplace trying to find the right gift for Isabella. She had rejected several hairpins, books, and trinkets. Minsoo wasn’t used to having friends and she wanted to do this right. She didn’t want Isabella to think she was being cold with her present choice, but Minsoo was practical by nature.
Minsoo wasn’t even sure Isabella celebrated Christmas, or the Winter Fest as it was called her. But, as she was a citizen of Elestren, Minsoo assumed it would be fine. Minsoo had mulled it over for a while, before having an epiphany while buying clothes for the winter. She decided to knit Isabella a cloak.
Knitting didn’t seem to exist in the world of Aura. However, it wasn’t too difficult for Minsoo to get ahold wool, then have it transformed into yarn. However, the actual knitting had been a process. Minsoo was rusty. But, by the end of it, she had a lovely red cloak for Isabella. She had even spent extra time adding gold embroidery.
Minsoo had invited Isabella out to the Fire Lily Inn for lunch. Now, she nervously placed the present in front of Isabella. “Consider this a gift for Winter Feast. And a thank you for saving my life. I hope you like it.”

Minsoo had not expected to run into her savior at the lanterns. But, there she was. Isabelle Mercier. Minsoo smiled at her, feeling a wave of gratitude overcome her. Though her savior was elusive, Minsoo had accepted that part of their relationship. After all, Minsoo was hardly the paragon of truth. Isabelle had her right to her own secrets.
Maybe it was because Isabelle had never known Cecilia, but Minsoo felt more comfortable being herself around the woman. As far as Minsoo could remember, Isabelle wasn’t even mentioned in the book.
There was always the question of why a nice girl like Isabelle was always in the Darien Vale. Minsoo never asked; that might invite questions about her own expeditions to the Vale. But the thought always lingered in her mind. Was Isabelle in some type of trouble?
At least today promised to be a peaceful affair. Minsoo stared at the distance. The castle was beautiful in the glow of the lanterns. She turned to her companion. “I wish we could get a closer look. Oh, should we make some wishes?” She had heard that was a tradition. Though maybe that was the Chinese festival. It was hard to separate the differences between the two in her head, especially as she was playing it by ear.
Nothing else had worked, so maybe this was a chance at getting home. If magic was real, maybe a wish could actually come true here. “Do you want to ask for anything?”

🐑 Sheep: What is a comfort item you own?
“Thankfully, I’m not too attached to material things. However, there is a crotched blanket in my room that is incredibly warm. It is very comforting, especially on rainy days.”
