Lucy held onto Lena’s hand as they walked around the carnival. Being the middle of the week it wasn’t much crowded, most of the other visitors being kids going after school. It was nice for the dancer being out and doing normal stuff. It happened very rarely, since the other girls at the club all had friends and family outside of it. When she wasn’t working she just loved to read or work out. Except when she was spending time with Alex, but their encounters mostly happened at night. Not that she would ever complain about that.
Noticing a booth not far from them, the smaller woman smirked and pulled Lena in that direction.
“Com’on, soldier. Show off your skill and win me something.”
She directed her to a shooting booth full of stuffed animals of all dimensions.
“Show me what you can do and I’ll reward you on top of the Ferris wheel.”

Setup Narrative:
For the past six months, she has been with her team, the Delta Force, going from mission to mission. They can be described as 5 extra big brothers she never knew she needed nor wanted. She is somewhat known in the army community as being the first woman to be in the ranks of the Green Berets.
The Delta Force were given a two month reprieve and after their last meeting in Fort Bragg, the team decided to take a much needed vacation to National City, which just so happened to be where Lena was from.
Before Lena had left for her 6 monthmission-to-mission excursion, she had broken up with her girlfriend of 4 years, Alexandra Morgan. They were childhood friends and Alexandra became a professional soccer player. With both of their schedules, it just didn’t work, and there was suspected cheating that occurred.
Her buddies are doing their best to cheer their favorite girl on to find a new girl, and what best city to party it up than National City itself, where it all began?
Lucy was up on the stage, dancing. The last couple of days had been pretty rough but she was glad to be back on the stage, doing what she loved the most: losing herself to the rhytm of the music. There was little that could stop her from being on that stage night after night. A lot of people would call her job demeaning, but she loved it. Sure, it had its bad sides… but what job could be considered perfect? Besides, she owed everything to Lou, she’d never leave him for the first better opportunity.
Moving around the stage, by now just wearing her bra and bikini bottom, she readied herself for the final moments, when only one piece would remain to cover her. She let her eyes run around the room, or at least the parts she could see with the lights shining in her eyes, and that’s when she noticed that a familiar private booth seemed to be occupied. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw one of Alex’s usual men standing right next to it, unmistakable sign that the woman was present. She went back concentrating on the music, grabbing her bra and throwing it to the first rows, then finished dancing beore waving to the patrons and exciting the stage. A couple of the other girls smiled and winked at her while she quickly walked to the changing rooms. She had a short break before being on the floor, but Alex’s presence meant that she was to go there to her as soon as she could. She quickly changed in a new bikini, putting then on a completely see-through top and when to reapply the make up that had ruined while dancing. She was very careful applying it, making sure it covered her face in an uniform way. She really hoped that nothing would look amiss when she went to meet Alex. With a wince she realized she would have to refuse going home with her that night. Then she sighed and walked to the main room, smiling at different patrons as she walked by them. She didn’t stop for the usual chats, though, moving straight to the private booth guarded by two men. As soon as they saw her approach, they nodded and moved to let her pass. She nodded back with a small smile and entered the booth, smile getting immediately bigger then transforming in a smirk. She couldn’t risk both of their reputations while her men were still around.
“Well, if it isn’t my favorite client. Twice in a month, I must have done something right.”
Rose had already vacated the stage and was now circling the room, stopping by the regulars’ tables to greet them, say a couple of words, maybe dance for a moment before moving on. Walking to the next table she innerly groaned, recognizing the patrons smirking at her as she approached. They were semi-regular but they often seemed to forget the rules that Lou set for all the clients. No touching unless specifically allowed by the dancer and nothing too aggressive anyway. They liked to grope girls that just talked to them or danced close. They were smart enough to never cross the line too much, though, afraid of being banned from the club. More than once she had to stop herself from reacting, especially when they did those things to the younger girls. But she knew that was part of the job description and that Lou would never allow something to bad to happen to any of them. So she went to them, putting a seductive smile on her face.
“Hello boys, how are you doing tonight?”
As expected, things escalated quickly and before she could stop him one of the guys had his hand on her ass.
“You know the rules. No touching.”
For a few moments she went back and forth with him, trying to politely convince him to move his hand. That night, though, he seemed to be more stubborn than usual and instead of letting her go when she threatened to call security, he pulled her on his lap. Not expecting the move she fell right in his arms and while his buddies laughed he circled her waist with his arms, groping some more. At that point she started looking around for help. She was strong and knew self defense, but the guy had her trapped and pretty roughly too. Besides his buddies were egging him on, so she knew she wouldn’t be able to escape all of them. She was livid, this time she’d have Lou ban them from the club forever. She just hoped that security would arrive before they got too far. She had noticed one of the girls, Sandy, calling for them.

Alex: Chaos. Everywhere she looked, there were things on fire, rubble falling all around, and screaming people running away from the sounds of destruction further down the road. And Alex? Alex was running desperately towards the madness. She didn't care who saw her use her abilities, she didn't care about a single thing except getting to Lucy. She knew the attack was too close to the strip club for comfort, she could hear the source of all the chaos coming from that direction. She didn't look back at Lena, she couldn't, knowing the disappointment and pain she would find in sea green eyes. She was in love, and sadly, it wasn't Lena that held her heart. There was dread sitting at the very bottom of her gut, and something told her this was it. That this would be the end of Hades' reign of terror, and it was completely worth it if it meant those she loved got to live one more day.
Lucy: Lucy was frantically trying to help everyone around the club. Half of it had collapsed on itself and she was now helping the girls trying to find a safe place, uncaring of her bleeding back. Lou was gone, crushed under the roof that had collapsed, and so were s couple of the girls. She noticed Mary limping after Louanne and she quickly moved to help her. She was terrified, but not for herself. For Alex, for Lena. For the few people she really cared about and weren’t there. She was praying with all her might in a God she didn’t believe in for them to be alright. Hoping that Alex’s alien nature and Lena’s training would keep them safe. God, Alex... she needed to be safe. With a shiver she hoped that Kara too was safe, the tattoo parlor not too distant from there. But in her case too she was confiding in her alien nature.
Alex: The closer she got to ground zero, the harder it was to properly concentrate. She was all to used to muting her senses, that opening them now was borderline painful. Rounding the last corner, she came to a sudden stop out of shock, she had seen her fair share of blood and destruction, a lot of it dealt by her own hand, but this was plain horrifying. Something tugged at her heart when she ignored people's cries, but she had to find Lucy first. "Lucy!" She screamed, digging her way through the rubble of what once was Lou's strip joint, her once immaculate suit caked with dirt and singed at the edges. She heard a weak cry, and after a few seconds looking around, hazel eyes saw a hand barely twitching from underneath a concrete pillar, and uncaring of who saw, she lifted it without much effort, throwing it to the side to help the woman trapped. "Hey, it's okay, I'm here to help." She tried to soothe, fearing her approach could hurt the girl. "This is gonna hurt and I'm sorry, but you'll die if I leave you here."
Lucy: Lucy stopped suddenly while helping one of the girls getting over some rubble. For a moment she thought she had heard Alex’s voice calling her name. “Wonderful” she thought. “Now I’m hearing things”. The pain in her back was starting to really bother her but she couldn’t stop until everyone was safe
Alex: Ignoring the woman's cries of pain, Alex carried her outside where some people were trying to help the fallen. Not too far, she could still hear someone, something going on a rampage. She needed to find Lucy, and fast. "Lucy!" Noe answer still, and she was becoming frantic in her worry. "Rose!" Too busy trying to locate the object of her affections, Alex didn't see the rampaging alien hovering in the sky, and the way glowing eyes zeroed in on her, until it was too late. The impact felt like a truck on her back, making Alex stumble forward, her own body causing just as much, if not more, damage than whatever had hit her. She dug her way from underneath it, only to see that, ironically enough, the enraged alien had indeed thrown a car at her. "You're gonna have to do much better than that, my man." Digging her hands into the roof of the car, the Daxamite swung it like a club, letting it go just in time for it to impact against the alien and send him flying away. Knowing she had a small window of time before he came back, Alex went back to looking for Lucy, doing her best to ignore the bodies she could see under the rubble. "Lucy!"
Lucy: A short cry of pain reached the Daxamite ears, a familiar one. Lucy wasn’t really far away from her, cradling an arm. She had found one of her friends trapped under a pillar and with the help of s couple of other people got her out. I’m doing so, though, some of the pillar had broken and the debris had hit her right on the shoulder. She cursed, telling herself that she couldn’t just stop. She could hear the fights still going on, that meant that they weren’t safe. They needed to get away from there before more of the place collapsed. She wasn’t a hero, she never had been, but something in her wouldn’t allow her to leave until she knew she had saved anyone possible. And besides, they had families, loved ones... they had to go back to them. Even if she died there, no one would really mourn her.
Alex: A pained cry from a familiar voice reached her ears, making Alex whip her head around towards the source. There, beyong the flames and smoke, the one she had been searching for was, and she called out desperately, "Lucy!". Stumbling the entire way, she fought her way across what looked like a wasteland, only to fall to her knees heavily in front of the woman. Relief and fear crossed her eyes. "I knew you enjoyed a little cat and mouse play, but perhaps it wasn't the time." She tried to joke, reaching out to touch the girl's face. "We need to get out of here before he comes back."
Lucy: Lucy stared at Alex incredulously. For a moment she thought she had maybe hit her head and was hallucinating. But then she blinked and realized that it was real. Alex was there in front of her, alive. “Alex! Thank god, you’re alright! I was so worried...” She looked around at the devastation “Before who comes back? I can’t leave everyone here, Alex, I need to help!”
Alex: "The alien tearing the city to pieces! I managed to knock him away but I have a feeling he won't stay down for long." Trying to control her frantic movements, she shrugged off her jacket, wrapping it around Lucy's shoulders gently. "If we stay here you'll die, think of yourself for once, dammit!" She was doing her best not to look into Lucy's eyes, knowing what she would find there, and scared of what it could mean. "Come on, we need to move."
Lucy: Lucy swallowed, shaking her head. “I can’t, Alex, I can’t. They all have families and loved ones to go back to. I’m the most sacrificable one. I need to help them, I can’t just go! You go, save yourself, save... save Lena. You need to go to her. I’ll be okay, I’m resourceful!” She was shaking but she needed Alex to be safe. Who cares if she was a semi indestructible alien? She loved her more than herself and all she wanted was for her to be happy
Alex: "You are not worth less than anyone, you hear me?!" Alex bellowed, cradling Lucy's face and pressing their foreheads together. The dread from before slowly turned into begrudging acceptance. She looked at the destruction around, the screams and cries for help, anx Alex knew how the story ended. A streak of gray flew overheadand it made her smile, if only sadly, for today, the last daughters of Rao would fight side by side for the first, and perhaps last time. Spying Maggie and Lena running towards them, Alex looked at Lucy one last time with all the love and gratitude of a lifetime in her eyes. The sounds of battle nearing once again, she smiled. "I'm so in love with you, Lucy Lane, and I just wish we had more time." With that, she pushed Lucy into Maggie's arms, silently begging her most trusted people to keep her love safe. Then, she walked away, knowing she had done the right thing for once in her life. For once, she wouldn't be selfish. For once, she would show Lucy that the time spent with Alex had been worth it in the end.
Lucy: Lucy looked confused to Alex. Her heart started beating faster when she felt her hands and forehead on her. She closed her eyes for a moment but immediately opened them again. The noise from the battle was roaring in her ears and Alex’s words were mostly covered by it. She tried to grab her, stop her from going, ask her to repeat, but it was too late. She could only watch her go, straight to the center of the battle, possibly to her death. Her eyes filled with tears as she called her name in desperation. But she knew that it was all for nothing.
The attack had come out of nowhere, and in a matter of minutes, the alien had lain siege to a good part of the downtown area. As soon as she had placed the location all too close to the strip club for comfort, she was out of her chair in a blink.
If she had not ignored her right hand man's warning as she shot out of her office, her current position wouldn't have come as such a surprise. But there she was, her gun pointed forward as she stared past the barrel of her counterpart's and straight into stormy green eyes.
