From my FB... So, I owe this man everything. He taught me how to make pots and how to work with clay, initially. Troy showed me how clay was important in the living of life, and how the community was so integral to the making process, not discounting what the tradition of wood firing has done for our culture as a whole for the entire planet. He also let me see the importance of the functional object, the bowl, really could impact a person's life. The man that is Jack Troy has been such a game changer in the Americas, in the understanding of clay. I am at a loss for words to describe his true impact on the #NCECA2016 world, let alone the contemporary art world as a whole. So much respect is due to him and his practice. With out teachers like him we would be worlds behind. He is so earth-shattering.
