If this creature had any threatening attributes akin to a gator, my assumption is it would be a leftover pet, that could build up a coating of calcification perhaps on its upper body (leading to a horn?). This doesn’t include the supposed Native American records however. A simple misidentification, hybrid, or hoaxing. Its all very sketchy to be fair D:
