Saw lots of good reviews for Necessary People by Anna Pitoniak - a May 2019 #BOTM pick. We have two friends - Stella, the beautiful, rich girl who does what she wants. And Violet, who comes from nothing, but uses her brain and work ethic to build some success. Maybe you know a Stella - the person with every advantage. Or a Violet - doesn’t share their past, but there’s some hunger there. I struggled with the first half of this book. Couldn’t relate to the characters - couldn’t see where the story was going. Seemed like all of the issues were NYC-centric. Then someone dies and it got interesting 😮. Have you ever worked with someone who was so ambitious they were willing to do anything to get ahead? (Let me tell you about Idiot Duane 😂) What happens when others refuse to let you make your own choices? How much is okay?Last half of the book is fast-paced so stick with it. Not sure I’d call this a pure thriller. Interesting ending.
