Thai Crochet Cowl, free pattern by Hannah Owens on Not Your Average Crochet [ravelry].
(grey and brown) local alpaca yarn from Perimeter Alpacas, they called it “light worsted” but it’s quite thin, somewhere between a Sport and DK maybe. I used a grey and a brown held together.
(darker brown) local alpaca yarn from Hundred Fold Farm
(lighter brown) alpaca merino yarn by Estelle
I made a much smaller cowl than the pattern instructs, since it becomes quite heavy. My foundation chain was 23 puffs long, which makes a cowl about 33cm wide (66cm circumference). This is quite wide for me, so next time I’ll try 14-18 puffs.
This was a lovely project to work on. It took a while to get the hang of things, but once I got it, it worked up more quickly than I expected. The yarn from Perimeter Alpacas becomes quite fuzzy when worked, which is kind of nice for this stitch.
