💍- your most underrated story
Another one I really think is underrated is Merciless, which describes how Alma Malheur took up the name Malla Velius for the first time. I genuinely loved writing Alma’s and Domitian’s friendship and was so glad I could touch on it even a bit during Phantom Pains.
☺️- a line that made you feel a fluffy happiness
Fluffy happiness but also crushing sadness:
“And you are more than worthy of his name. He would have loved you with all his heart.”
👶- advice for new writers
The “write every day” advice is much derided (and TBH, I’ve missed three days of writing this week), but I think there’s a kernel of truth in it: it’s about viewing writing as a craft, in the same way that talent comes through practice. Even if you just sit there and write “The” in a blank document and zone out for the next ten minutes, that’s still more valuable than if you wait until that perfect idea comes along.
Also, just get it on paper. That first draft is probably not as bad as you think it is. It’s also the hardest step, which leaves the relatively easy work of editing ahead of you once it’s done!
