I’m about 16k into what will probably be a 30k-ish fic for a Thing and I’m going to need a couple of beta readers in the next couple of weeks. Partly because the Thing requires it, and partly because I want to avoid miss-stepping with regard to a couple of demographics I wish to include but do not belong to myself.
* I’m looking for what should be a quick trans/non-binary sensitivity read (or several, more voices is obviously better here) primarily to make sure I’m not unconsciously reinforcing stereotypes or being hurtful in some way I’d otherwise miss in my ignorance, and
* I’d love to have a couple of mid-process chats with someone fluent in Spanish and familiar with Tejano and/or Southwestern US Mexican-American culture(s) to make suggestions on the possible inclusion of Spanglish and terms of endearment, diminuitives, etc between a number of characters in a small, diverse community, along with a quick reality check read when the fic is otherwise finished
I don’t know what I might be able to offer by way of recompense for your time...possibly a strictly mechanics beta read? I can do dry stuff like that, but my social anxiety makes less structured critique a special kind of hell for me.
Um...Also I crochet and knit squishy beanies.
