This is my Headcanon but just from looking at game and the little bit of lore for Wild in general, they have really severe self destructive tendencies. In Mipha's diary, she talks about how Wild has always been reckless even before he trained to be a knight. With Link pulling the Master Sword at a young age and having the weight of the entire kingdom put on their shoulders so early, it was likely reinforced that the lives of everyone else more than important Link's own safety, on purpose. And with everyone probably tying all of Link's worth and purpose into defeating the Calamity for most of his formative years, any deviation from that would likely have massive psychological repercussions even with the fact that Wild forgot most of their life, because that type self-destructive mind would have long become subconscious. And as Wild begins to regain their memory it's probably just going to get worse before it gets better. Sorry for the rant😅

I’d say that’s kind of what’s going on with ALUW but to a lesser extent. It’s a problem, and it definitely affects the way Wild sees themself. But they’re much more focused on what happened after they woke up from the shrine than before dying. But yes, I agree that a lot of Wild’s sense of self-worth is based on how they were treated in the past.

I’m assuming this is also you. While this is where ALUW deviates from canon (they’re not necessarily insecure that they’re the only one that failed, it’s not the main reason at least), I do agree that being around the other heroes is negatively affecting their self-image.
