i would LOVE to hear abt your tma elsewhere university au
oho thank you! i put things about the main characters in this post, but time for some fun moments and character relationships!
- There is not exactly a plot at the moment, but the time that would mainly be written about would see Daisy and Basira as seniors, Georgie as a junior, Jon, Martin, Sasha, and Tim as sophomores, and Melanie as a freshman.
- Georgie and Jon were best friends in high school, and dated for almost a year before Georgie went off to university and they broke up, staying close friends. Georgie didn’t text much while she was away, but when she came back for winter break, she was changed in that way anyone who has tasted freedom is changed. It was the push Jon needed to apply to EU, and the scholarship package was more than he could say no to. Georgie had her encounter the days before winter turns to spring, and by the time she would have thought to warn Jon about the school he had already accepted their offer.
- Tim and Sasha met in orientation and it was not long before the two of them together were a common sight. Sasha gave Tim his first charm, a half of an acorn wrapped in wire, ever pointing to where the other half had been buried and grown into a massive oak tree in the center of campus. So you don’t get lost, she told him, and he took it with a thank you, not caring what debts those words may have implied. They tell each other their true names that spring, whispered in Sasha’s well warded room.
- Jon is not very impressed with Martin from the start, when the man introduces himself with his true name of all things. Unfortunately, they are in a number of classes together, and Jon tucks away his name as something that might come in handy later on. Years later, when Peter Lukas and the call of the Unsea draw Martin away, Jon pulls the name out once more, well worn from how many times he has turned it over in his mind. Jon calls for Martin by name, asks him to be Martin again, to take back his name. Seagulls call in the fog, loud and traffic-light-green-glowing, but Jon stands his ground until Martin begins to coalesce.
- Sasha is Melanie’s orientation leader, and gives very good advice. She gives Melanie some of the answers that she is looking for, enough to whet her appetite and let her roots begin to grow, but there was only so much that she could answer. The young and curious had to learn how they fit into EU, after all, had to come up with their own ways to protect and endanger themselves. They were friends, though, and after Sasha was taken and Melanie had trained in the else, had become sharper than the knife Sasha had given her to keep herself safe, Melanie joined Tim to get her back.
- Sasha was taken in her second year, gone for barely a moment before a changeling replaced her. A changeling who frowned at computers, who was distant, who waited for as long as she could before being alone with Tim. A changeling who called him Stoker, because she had no way of knowing his true name. Tim pulled away as his burgeoning suspicious were confirmed, as he realized that the creature in front of him was not his friend. He pulled his crowbar from where it was stowed, encountered Melanie on his way to the forest, felt the first gift Sasha had ever given him safe in his pocket. He was not going to let anyone else he cared about be taken.
