Gaspar Noé Has Never Been Better

Vortex is the newest film from prolific, critically-acclaimed director Gaspar Noé. After recently watching his short from Destricted, it was hard to fathom if or how he could get any bleaker. That's where Vortex comes in.
The plot follows an elderly couple whose mental and physical health are declining before our very eyes. The performances by the two leads, Dario Argento and Françoise Lebrun, will have you capitivated from beginning to end. This is actually Argento's first leading role. He was excellent and there was no better filmmaker than Gaspar Noé for Dario Argento to star in his first leading role. Noé's bleak, dramatic, and sometimes dark themes really fit the style Argento needs to show off his acting talent.
Vortex is captivating in every way. From the emotional depth to the unwavering sense of uneasiness, the film will leave a long lasting impression. The execution of every scene was meticulous and thoughtful. The entire thing feels extremely intimate and real. Extremely sad and bleak at times, this is a lot different than Gaspar's other work while also staying true to his craft and creative direction. Vortex feels more authentic because it is.
In conclusion, Gaspar Noé has given us some of his best and most authentic work yet while also being extremely ambitious and creative with the filmmaking. He crafted a near perfect film from start to finish. Vortex has it all. Emotion, authenticity, bleakness, uneasiness, disorienting direction, sad, raw and filled with that typical Noé flair we all love. One of the best of the year. If you watch anything, watch this.
Editor's Note:
Thank you to Utopia Movies for the screener! This was an incredible watch and we are internally grateful for the opportunity to work with you. Thank you so much! And thank you to Gaspar for constantly delivering!
Cannes Film Festival 2022 Wrap-Up

The Cannes Film Festival has wrapped up and there are some big names that premiered films and some big names that won awards.
One of our favorite filmmakers David Cronenberg premiered his new film Crimes Of The Future, starring Kristen Stewart, Lea Seydoux, and Viggo Mortensen. We didn't get a chance to see the premiere but we have heard from friends who went that this is going to be a doozy.
Unfortunately, however, Crimes Of The Future and David Cronenberg did not win like we were hoping. But so many other great filmmakers got highlighted.
Here is the full list of winners at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival:
Team Nefarious, wanted to highlight Utopia Movies because they picked up Holy Spider and put out one of our favorites from this year so far, Vortex!
Hulu’s ‘Hellraiser’ Has Been Rated “R”

Hulu apparently has such sights to show us as they have given their newest edition to the Hellraiser franchise an “R” rating.
It’s rated “R” for ‘strong bloody horror violence and gore, language, some sexual content, and brief graphic nudity.
There’s no release date set yet, but we are very intrigued, to say the least.

Stranger Things Is Finally Back
Just a heads up, we're only two episodes into this newest season and there will be no spoilers.
Season 4 of Stranger Things starts off with a bang. We are met with many new characters, some good, some bad. Our favorites return. The Duffer Brothers definitely didn't shy away from showing blood and stuff like that when needed. The effects are great as always.
One thing we're left scratching our heads about is the necessity of a fifth season. We disagree with needing a fifth season. Some of the newer characters aren't needed or likable so we're wondering how they could possibly tie all of this together cohesively but we are excited to finish this first part of the season!
What do you guys think about this new season?
