I don't think De Gea tried too much, its hard to blame goalkeepers for goals but he's hyped as one of the best gk. I mean 2goals (Portugal and Iran) were 100% his fault and the penalties are hard to blame too but he fell to the same side everytime and did not even get close to save any of them. I don't think he deserves to be a scapegoat but having in mind the saves so many gk did and all these gks saving penalties to the very least fans should admit that he's not THE best GK. In general, I think there should be less pressure and blaming of gks, but also when the gk is “the best gk in the world” they seem to escape a lot of the criticism every other gk gets. There is a lot of valid criticism against dg after the competition he had and when your fave gk is constantly compared to him and seen as lesser to him, it feels good to see that! Continue to love and support dg all you want if he is your gk, but don’t pretend he had a good competition.
