Valerie Vasquez isn’t where she thought she would be. Anyone who knew her from her past wouldn’t believe her success either. She was confident that her life would have been the same. Her life in high school wasn’t something she was proud of. While in high school she had been introduced to drugs and alcohol and fell into it hard. She became addicted to cocaine and heroin and was willing to try anything that would get her high. Valerie didn’t come from a wealthy background, she didn’t have the funds to pay for the number of drugs she wanted on a weekly basis. That’s why she she’d offered herself as payment, her deal with her drug dealer Tyson started with her sleeping with him for drugs. That stayed in place for a few months, and in those he provided her what she needed to survive and in a weak state of mind she fell in love with him.

The young brunette hadn’t lived a day without drugs for over a year. She was living happily in her drunk state of mind, though something changed. Her drug dealer boyfriend started convincing her to start sleeping with other members in order to get a better deal on drugs. The offer was tempting, though it made her a little uncomfortable. Then one night, it happened while she was high. She doesn’t remember who she slept with, though she remembers the amount of cash that landed in her hand the next day. Without any other income, this was her new way of life. She’d sleep with whoever her boyfriend told her to and she’d get a nice cut at the end of the day. She wasn’t happy with her life. She was surviving.

One night she was on a ‘date’ with a guy her boyfriend told her to and she was picked up by cops. She was high at the time and brought in for questioning about a guy her boyfriend told her to hook up with. She hadn’t planned on saying a word, though, after hours in a cell, she was desperate for a hit of something. One cop, in particular, Talia Barker, worked with her and promised her a hit after she spoke. That’s exactly what she did. In the hours she was in the police department, Talia looked after her in a way her boyfriend never had. When she wasn’t needed anymore, Talia gave her money earned for helping and dropped her off a corner with a rehab facility. Valerie hadn’t ever felt cared for while with her boyfriend, parents or anyone until that moment.

Valerie didn’t take Talia’s offer, she didn’t think she needed it. She also didn’t believe Talia would really care for her. She’d use her someway. Valerie was sure of it. It wasn’t until things she went back to her old life. She realized how shitty it was and how much she wanted a change. She decided to get high in an alley and thought she’d call Talia not thinking she’d ever come. Though she woke up hours later to the cop in her face. Valerie wanted to come clean, though she struggled and let the one person who looked out for her down. After finally taking herself to rehab and sticking it through, she reached out to thank her. A few weeks went by and she got a call from Talia who needed her help with a case. After that moment, she never left the station. She was offered the administrator position job for the Intelligence unit. She finally felt like she’s made something of herself and hopes to be something more if she can continue her studies.

A few months ago a friend from her past reached out to her thinking she was still living on the streets. Her old friend wanted to tell her about an opportunity that was a great gig for who she used to be. Though she didn’t tell her friend the success she has now, she’d made it clear that she was out of that world. A few months later, that same friend came to her terrified, with cuts and bruises all over her face. She’d announced then, she wanted help. Valerie let the girl stay over while Talia was out of town and Valerie was filled in on the inner workings and true owners of Sugar Rub, a business owned by the Royals that offers many sexual favours to their guests.

■ HISTORY. ■

Since Ivanna moved out of her parent's house after high school, she has always been a free floater. She’s loved having control of her life and her decisions, something she felt she didn’t have under her parent's roof. Since the immigrated from Mexico, they were the type of parents who expected a better life for her, they expected her to make something of herself in the sense of being in medicine, or law or something extravagant that her parents couldn’t achieve in Mexico. One of the many things she learned about herself is how much she hates the idea of people carrying expectations for her. When she didn’t go off to become the person her parents wanted her to be, she hated the sense of disappointment she gave them.

After high school, she enjoyed her sense of freedom and found herself a steady job, in an industry she thought she’d always wanted to be in. She started as an intern at a fashion agency, though was fired not long after. She had tried three other jobs before failing every one of them, and it was then she decided to give up. She deemed setting expectations as an absolute waste of time, it’s for that reason she decided to party. She didn’t know that partying in clubs was going to land her the job that would start the course of her life. While high she was incredibly outgoing, flirty, and the life of the party. Going to the same club, often got her recognized, and one night was approached by the manager who offered her a job as a bar girl. She loved being able to make money while partying, one night her clients asked if she had drugs. She wasn’t supposed to sell any, though she saw it as an opportunity to make more money. Her hot drug dealer, Julian Meadows caught her making a profit off his supply. At first, she thought the gang would have her head on a stick. Though Julian covered it up and offering it to the gang as if it was his idea.

Julian was how she found her way into selling her drugs. He taught her most of what she needed to know. Regarding being discreet, even price, and weight. It was a whole other world he’d introduced her to. Getting more confident in herself, she’d made a mistake and got caught by her manager who had threatened to call the police. It’s wasn’t until Julian saved the day once again and beat the shit out of her manager and threatened they’d be back if he ever considered calling the cops. Ivanna wasn’t too worried since, the Devils we’re opening a new nightclub in a few weeks and she was obviously going to be on their staff roster.

During training, Ivanna noticed a few things that were similar to the secret drug side of things. After asking a few questions and accidentally inquiring whether they had a secret drug system like the other club. She’d been questioned by the woman who seemed to be running the show. Ivanna explained the system she and the other bar girls had used and soon she was executing that same system with the new staff at Moonlight. Once the club opened, she was proud of the system that she’d helped create, especially since it excelled and grew larger. After the first few weeks, she’d made a serious profit, since she knew exactly how to handle her customers. Recently, she’d been pulled aside by the very woman who gave her this opportunity; Alicia Lopez who wanted her to be a part of something bigger, and better. The Quantum of Devils.

Everything in her life had been going smoothly since taking on her new job and joining the Quantum of Devils. She felt as if, this life for her was meant to be. The members of the Devils had started to become family to her. They offered her a sense of care and acceptance her parents couldn’t. Recently she’d experienced something she didn’t think would have happened. She made a sale to one of her clients like any other night, the roaring music, the drinks flowing, there wasn’t anything different. That was until the very same preppy ivy league looking guy she’d had in her booth started to really show signs of intoxication. She’d told the guy’s friends to take him home, and that’s what she thought had happened. It wasn’t until after close did she find that very guy dead in the alley behind the club.

■ Julian Meadows: When she met Julian, she didn’t think he’d introduce her to a whole new life. He was a tough guy, or at least that’s what his exterior portrayed. The more she worked with him, she realized he wasn’t that tough of a guy, and he's covering for her twice proved to her that there was something more between them.

■ Angelina Como: Angelina was a friend of hers who sometimes worked at the nightclub. Angelina was Ivanna’s go-to person to drink and get high with when their shift was close to over. Ivanna moved into a three-bedroom apartment with Sophia and her sister, when she was in a jam and needed a place to stay.

Master Chief Jack Mercer is a highly decorated Navy Seal, he’s received two silver stars, the bronze star, and a Purple Heart. Serving his country wasn’t just a decision; it was part of who he was. For decades Mercer men have signed up to serve. They were resilient, loyal, and believed the justice system. The only downside following in the footsteps of those he loved was it took time away from his family. Six years ago when he was away on leave, Jack lost the love of his life and his three-year-old daughter. While his wife and daughter were living in New York City, they were involved in a shoot out, while visitng family in a rough part of town. With the time change, he found out about his wife, long after her she was pronounced dead on the scene. Losing his wife and son without the opportunity to say goodbye, or tell them how mcuhed he loved them, broke him in many ways. had been the hardest thing he had ever gone through.

Gia’s life was stolen as a result of the ongoing conflict that was raging in New York City. While the police were hesitant on giving him information at first, and told him they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. When pushing for more details, he soon learned that his family, were victims of a shoot out most likely supported by the gang Royals of Purgatory. Thoughts of murdering those responsible played his mind. Though even he knew it would be impossible being that nobody had ever taken responsibility. Jack, knew that no matter how furious and broken he was, he wouldn’t go out on a spree without knowing who was properly responsible. Soon after the dual funeral, Jack left the city, needing new surroundings that didn’t remind him of what he’d lost.

It has been six years since her death, and while Jack was able to move on, he wasn’t able to fully shake the anger. Within those those four years, Jack joined the Texas police force and chose to direct his anger into a job that mattered. Jack had progressed within the organization and was scouted by Jessica Douglas, a well-respected Detective and asked to take on an undercover position. Something he’d wanted to do since joining the force. When he was told it had to do with the local gang. He knew that he was asked for the reason that while he did his best to keep it a secret. His brother had been a member of the Quantum of Devils since he was in high school. What Jessica didn’t know, was the history he had with gang activity back in New York.

When he started his undercover work, the feelings and emotions relating to Gia’s dealth arose once more. He wasn’t so much angry, though he was passionate about putting this group of criminals to prison, even his own brother. It’s been almost eight months since he started the undercover operation and he had involuntarily grown incredibly loyal to the members of the group. There were moments, he thought his cover was blown, or that his actions would result in a beating or getting kicked out. Though what surprised him was the lengths the members went to protect him and help him. The deeper he got undercover, the harder it was to navigate who to arrest, and who to provide intel on, though when anytime he heard any news regarding the new charter in New York. He didn’t wait long before informing Jessica and his undercover team.

Jack is an incredible officer both in a uniform and undercover. There are a few things that he knows will create a shift in his intentions on the job. One of those things is his family. If he were ever in a position to need to choose his job or his family, he would choose the ladder every time. While being in the gang, he’s been able to grow closer to his brother. Closer that he’d initially thought when accepting the undercover position. Jack would be lying if his only intention of taking the job was to put away Quantum of Devils members. He was informed of the possibility of the Devils moving to New York during his debrief, and a part of him though, maybe this could help him find the Royals members who murdered his wife and son all those years ago. Now that he’s arrived in New York again, he’s balancing his undercover work including getting in touch with the new task force and his personal vendetta against the Royals.  

■ RELATIONSHIPS. ■

■ Jay Mercer: Jay is Jack’s younger brother, and Jack had made a promise long ago that he would always protect him. While at first, he hadn’t been very accepting of Jay’s decision to join the Devils he has now figured why he has been so loyal. Jack will go to the end of the earth to protect him.

■ Desirée St. Vincent: Pain in his ass. There was truly no other way to describe the woman. He sure as hell had never imaged he would befriend her. Des was ordered by the Devil’s to watch over him and while they didn’t get along at first. The two have grown on one another.

■ HISTORY. ■

Julian Meadows would consider himself a New Yorker through and through. He grew up alongside other third-generation Royals members and learned to love the city more and more as he grew up. As a kid, he idolized the club and was so excited for the day he would be a prospect. When he joined, it was everything he expected it to be, he and his best friends causing havoc as they usually did, though despite their doing the same petty crimes, it felt better with a leather jacket on their backs. Most of his teenage years resulted in him wasting his life with drugs or alcohol and making a mess of the city he loved so much. He personally felt untouchable, since any time he was arrested if he got caught, he was released the next day without any issues. The NYPD wasn’t a group of people that ever threatened him. The only person who really threatened him were the elders of the club, especially the President.

In his late teens, he’d met a girl named Birdie. During his and Birdie’s relationship, she’d been through some hard times with her parents, and he knew she was attracted to the jacket on his back and that didn’t bother him. If she wanted to date a badass in order to rebel against her parents, that’s exactly the experience he would give her. He didn’t bring her along on any Royals business, though he would do what it took to give her the thrill she was clearly looking for. Their relationship went to shit when they were arrested one evening. For Julian, it didn’t matter since the gang would get him out with a slight slap on the wrist. That wasn’t the same situation for Birdie. He tried to be there for her, though she pushed him away. Julian tried to not let it affect him, but it was hard. Instead of moaning about the breakup, he chose to put his efforts into something else, he wanted more jobs, more responsibility. Though the president at the time didn’t see his potential. Garrett Miller, on the other hand, did. It was in that moment of weakness, he decided to do a job for him, one job leads to two which leads to several others. Before he knew it, he was selling large amounts of drugs in secret under the President's nose.

When the secret drug selling circle was discovered by the gang, Julian had been dating Birdie again. Their relationship had started to feel more serious since she’d been living in his apartment. Once the secret was revealed, he knew that he couldn’t stay in New York any longer, he would soon be disgraced and instead of dealing with the consequences head-on, he chose to sneak away like a coward. In the middle of the night, he packed a back and got on a bus to Texas without any chance of looking back.

On the day Julian accepted a job from Garrett he didn’t truly accept or realize the betrayal he’d committed to the Royals. There are times where he regrets the decisions he’s made regarding the Devils. While in Texas, the Devils had his full loyalty, in fact, he was one of the few people Tubbs had trusted with most drug operations since he knew the system in New York. Though now that he has returned to his hometown, he sometimes wonders in the back of his mind if there’s an opportunity to regain some trust.

While living in Texas, Julian had climbed the ladder and felt that he was at the top of his game. The Quantum Devils really had given him opportunities and trusted him more than the Royals ever had. He cherished the feeling of trust from Garrett. What Julian didn’t expect was how much he hated some of the members, though one truly in particular. He was infuriating. So much so, that Julian paid someone to beat him up. It was meant to be a little beating, though at the moment it ended up being so much more. It landed the boy in the hospital for a few days. Julian didn’t think he’d ever stoop down to that level, though he’d used the opportunity to prove his power over him.

■ RELATIONSHIPS. ■

■ Aleki Torch: Cole is the young member who pissed Julian off. He was the cockiest kid he’d ever met and Julian couldn’t ignore it anymore.

■ Birdie Cheung: Birdie was his first left, and he realizes now how he messed it all up. As he returns to New York he isn’t sure if she’ll give him a second chance.

■ Jack Mercer: Julian and Jack have become good friends due to their similarity in age.
