I just had to draw the ‘maid incident’, I cant resist drawing cute clothes for this au
I can see the contestants in the aftermath show learning of Nehas true identity and actually being able to look her up on their phones in the after hours. just having the shock of ‘ oh my God, this is Noah, but it’s not Noah. It’s Neha. And they are in a literal princess dress and are apparently a super famous pop idol, wtf.’
Cause I just love how you previously stated it’s the Clark Kent effect. And I love imagining how jarring it would be for that veil to be pulled down for the other contestants.
How to tell the Noah twins apart: aka Neha and Mahavir a shallow dive
Previous post
Neha is the brains, Mahavir is the brawn
They're kind of the opposite of each other in a way that complements the other, like filling in for the other's weaknesses
So yeah, Neha is the literal genius, child prodigy who can't stand people and is basically an unwilling introvert
She strongly believes that physical exercise was a torture method created by adults in her life to try and humble her- it was unsuccessful
Mahavir is more of a jock, like captain of as many sports teams as he can get his hands on (including gymnastics) type of jock, he is also one of the friendliest people ever and is very popular in school
He strongly believes that school and tests are unimportant factors in life and making friends should prioritise over them- even if Neha bullies him into passing them all
As for physical appearance, Neha is shorter and slimmer with the obvious biological differences whereas Mahavir is taller and has a sleeper build- put on some baggy clothes and they look really similar
Neha also has more masculine facial features and Mahavir has more feminine ones
Hell, if it wasn't for the fact that Neha has obvious breasts and Mahavir likes his hair as short as possible (it's only practical) then they'd both look completely androgenous, instead they're semi there
Neha also has darker hair and eyes whereas Mahavir's are a few shades lighter- barely noticeable unless there's a side by side comparison
You'd expect them not to get along too well because of all this but they're basically attached at the hip
Hell, the whole Neha hacking stuff at six years old was because her and Mahavir were playing spies and got too into it
In fact, their childhood was basically a cycle of them committing what were probably crimes because they got too caught up with the bit in the games they were playing
Of course, not that anyone would believe that literal children were doing any of that, the joys of young prodigies
Another key thing is that Neha is a hell of a lot more protective of Mahavir than he is of her and that's mainly because as kids she was the one chasing and scaring off bullies (even getting people to believe she was a witch so they would back off) and keeping him away from bad people since his naivety used to attract them
That isn't to say that Mahavir isn't protective of her in his own ways, it just comes off differently and happens less, he's more than happy to de-escalate situations whenever her mouth runs too much, and he has thrown hands once before
So, the key points in telling them apart on the show basically are:
if your Noah is willingly participating in physical activity with minimal complaining? It's probably Mahavir
If your Noah is doing absolutely anything to get out of doing something physical? Chances are it's Neha
If your Noah is actively initiating conversations or interactions, being friendly even? It's probably Mahavir
If you Noah is being ruder and spewing a lot more insults while complaining at every chance? Chances are it's Neha
If your Noah is pulling off a physical feat that counteracts the appearance and previously stayed abilities? It's probably Mahavir
If your Noah is barely eating anything and staying awake at night? Chances are it's Neha
If your Noah is spending free time napping or talking? That's probably Mahavir
If your Noah is spending free time reading or can't be found? That's probably Neha
If your Noah is giving non-backhanded compliments to 'dumber' people? It's probably Mahavir
If your Noah is getting manhandled by Izzy? Chances are it's Neha
If your Noah is chill with Tyler talking to them and is even willing to engage with eating the food and engaging in team bonding exercises while seemingly oblivious to any manipulative schemes? That's definitely Mahavir
If your Noah gives you unsettling vibes like they know everything you have ever done and exactly what you're thinking right now with a single hum of acknowledgement? That's definitely Neha
Does this mean that Neha is the one that got them eliminated? Yes. Yes it does.
Though I guess it would be funny if world tour was Mahavir's fault because he was grumpy over something... But Neha does have the chronic foot in mouth syndrome
Also they totally gave Alejandro whiplash because one moment 'Noah' would be looking at him and talking to him like 'he' knows what Alejandro has been doing and the next he's seemingly completely oblivious and not interacting with him in the same way (or remembers the specifics of their conversations, he couldn't have been the only one right?)
Addams family inspired female Noah au! So uhh, dark comedy warning ig?
The Burromuerto family are basically the stand in for the Addams family in this case, apart from the fact that they are far more integrated into the rest of the world
As in, a loving family who all have unhinged interests, extended family also full of weirdos, and are obsessed with the macabre
As for the gothic aesthetics, it's family tradition to allow the children to pick one colour that isn't black/brown/white when they first learn to crawl. They have to stick to that colour for the rest of their lives
Mrs Burromuerto has an interest specifically in the occult, rituals and witchcraft, often teaching it in schools as a special guest (which never goes how they expect it to). She has an air of aloofness, grace and superiority, but would also be the first one to get her hands (literally) dirty
Mr Burromuerto has an interest in his wife. And winning. He's friendly to everyone around him's faces (even if he genuinely despises them, it is his job after all), but only genuinely to his wife and sons. Speaking of, they all inherit his Gomez-esque passion for their partners and lack of care for the others around them
Alejandro and José have a childhood game called 'who can kill the other first'. People genuinely don't know if they actually hate each other or not. Honestly, neither do they half the time
But they do have a rivalry that caused them to learn as many skills from their family members as possible to one up each other. So whenever someone (on total drama) asks Alejandro how he can do something, he always responds with my 'uncle....' or 'cousin....' or 'aunt....' taught me
Carlos is definitely Alejandro's favourite, although he did use his younger brothers as test subjects for his poisons when he took interest in them (this may or may not come in handy on total drama...). He's also the most genuine of the lot, doesn't hide his crazy side, nor fakes his personality to people. Something Alejandro may or may not admire at how easy it is for him
Carlos had also moved out to live with his boyfriend bestfriend, both Mrs and Mr Burromuerto have bets going on for when they make it official
Uncle Julio obviously can hypnotise, but he also has a tremendous amount of random skills from his travels, ones he teaches the brothers whenever he returns
All of the family enjoy putting on a 'normal' first impression just to let the rug get pulled when their unhingedness and madness is revealed. They like to see how long it takes for their victims people to catch on
So yeah, manipulating other people is all a part of a game for them, no one outside of the family truly matters to any of them anyways (until Alejandro meets Neha)
The Devi family is also far from normal
The main reason? Amrita (the mother) is a black widow. Not that she's ever been suspected of being one- she is an incredibly sweet and kind woman after all who has all sorts of people wrapped around her fingers
It started when her first husband dared to raise his hand to her baby boy and spiraled from there
Each of the siblings (minus the twins) have a different father, but they all take after Amrita
And because of how they were raised, they're basically just familial yanderes- everything for the family after all
Of course Amrita had to teach them all her skills (to varying degrees), especially her preferred concoctions and ensuring they built their tolerances up (can't forget the vocal training either)
Each sibling has taken part in at least one of the 'schemes', including Neha who is usually on cover-up duty because of her hacking abilities (something she has to put to use while working for Chris)
They also have their special garden- something which no one outside of the siblings and Amrita is allowed to touch. To Izzy's dismay. But she's determined
Izzy, Eva and Owen are pseudo-adopted into the family after action but like, are all kind of oblivious to the off-ness, they just brush it off and love them anyways
Neha's reason for joining total drama? One of her brothers did it for her as an 'enrichment exercise because you can't keep avoiding people your age forever Neha' except he did it online and autocorrect (which he didn't check over because he relies on autocorrect as he types) caused the whole mistaken as a male situation. Neha autocorrected to Noah and dwmale autocorrected to male. ......This is why Neha is the one who does the computer stuff.
She still goes along with it because A, too much effort to try and fix it and B, it gives her an excuse to avoid people and is actually pretty fun interesting. So she can tell people whenever she wants, but just doesn't
Here's some more fun little evil femNoah headcanons! Basically her being a pretty shitty person all of which can fit into the parameters of canon! Or not, either way it really is fun...
Neha dehumanises basically everyone. She literally sees anyone lesser than her (and herself on some occasions) as animals, even referring to them as such in her mind, and it's this dehumanising that makes a lot of her actions a hell of a lot easier for her to do. So she does have this 'I know best' mentality because she's the genius one here, she's the smartest so clearly she knows better than them all
One of Neha's worst behaviour patterns is finding the most powerful person in the room, making herself seem really vulnerable compared to them, and working under them until they trust and depend on her wholly for something before ripping it away from them to watch their reactions and how (or if) they break. It's literally her entertainment. Her favourite type to do it to are assholes or other manipulative people purely because their reactions when she pulls the rug out from under them is so much more satisfying
Another form of entertainment for her is egging on fights, like she's constantly trying to get someone to fight (or just hit) her by making constant digs and insulting them. As soon as anyone gives her any kind of reaction to her taunts, she's won, even if she gets her face beaten in in the process
Basically her whole thing is wanting to make people snap for her own entertainment, and that ties back to why she decided to crossdress on the show- to make people underestimate her and find new ways to get a rise out of people/watch the floor fall from beneath them after they learn they were deceived
Neha also likes collecting people and showing them off. Except that her way of doing it is ensuring everyone else sees the potential of what's hers, lifting them up to the greatest heights possible so she can flaunt them. Seriously, what's better then making them famous and successful and knowing that no one else is allowed to touch them without her permission?
Future manager Neha because of course she's going to make that her job to control and manage their lives. She's the only one who knows what they need and can provide it to them, she's the person that got them to that position in the first place. And she'll do anything to get them there. Anything. She's irreplaceable to them and would have it no other way.
Honestly, this is borderline yandere so it's now turning into into a femNoah yandere post! Platonic edition~
She has her friends chipped and totally stalks them. Except that unlike Sierra she's classic about it, thank you very much, and hacks into cameras instead of just physically following them
Just imagine a brief moment of time where Izzy (who stalks people canonically) is stalking Neha in person while Neha is stalking her through cameras, kinda like that one Spiderman meme
However, Neha's more manipulative traits don't come out straight away, because she's naturally an asshole some of the worse things she says aren't immediately noticeable. Instead it's a slow burn sort of thing where it's easy to brush off any odd interactions
But slowly, she ends up monopolising the person's life, letting things slip now and again to test the water until she's got her claws dug in deep and it's too late for them to notice just how wrong it is- or at least they've become used to it and just see it as a fun little quirk
Neha doesn't like relying on other people, she doesn't trust them to do as good of a job as she can do, so of course this is reflected on anyone who's hers- she needs to be the one doing it all for them because how does she know if anyone else could truly look after them as well as she could? can care for them and appreciate them as well as she can? And yes, that even applies to the person themselves. Neha needs to have the control over people, especially those she claims
When it comes down to it, Neha is not above drugging people- especially if it means making sure her more reckless idiots sleep and look after themselves
She just severely lacks boundaries, but in her defense her friends (and the other contestants tbh) all have a messed up sense of boundaries too so it's not too out of the ordinary
Speaking of boundaries, her life goal is just slowly baiting and guiding all of hers to be under the same roof as much as possible, even if it means convincing them to move in with her
Despite all of this, she still acts and looks apathetic to it all, bored even. That's probably what keeps her under the radar, she acts like she doesn't care when she cares far too much
Basically the dynamic of team E-scope is yandere Neha, borderline yandere Izzy, and completely normal Eva who kind of picked up the other twos habits/sees them as normal because they're her first friends so how does she know any different?
Meanwhile Owen is just somehow completely oblivious, like he has a feeling that something is off about them but he loves them all anyways because they're just his weird little friends!
Also just picture Owen chilling being completely unaware of Neha's yandere tendencies, the same ones that she barely even hides at this point. Meanwhile Neha is practically clinging to him (in her own way, which basically means hovering) and glaring at anyone who gets too close
Though to be fair she does the exact same thing for Izzy and Eva- especially Eva who like Owen falls for a pretty face far too easily, so of course Neha needs to protect her precious heart!
Anyone want angst? Here's some female Noah angst. You have been warned!
Neha reveals herself to Owen. Wig off and all. But it doesn't go how she expects at all.
Because Owen is hurt. All this time, his little buddy has been lying to him. It makes him wonder if they're even friends.
So she tries to reassure them- of course they're friends.
It blows up into an argument.
Owen brings up the fact that she doesn't act like it.
She doesn't defend him. She doesn't go out of her way to do nice things for him or help him.
She was still friends with Alejandro when she knew he was hurting Owen before London.
She barely acts like she tolerates him.
She lied to him about who she really is for years.
And Neha physically can't help herself from biting back.
He's still friends with Justin who has hurt her, Duncan who has threatened her on multiple occasions and he likes Chris who has literally tortured them all for his own entertainment- especially her when she worked for him.
And he's just as selfish- he'd ditch her for a snack, he's ignored her time and time again when she has tried to help, he's carried and flung her around when she just wants space.
But she does like him- she wouldn't be spending time around someone she could barely tolerate.
And she lied to everyone- everyone. He's not special.
Owen's response? No one else has a problem with Justin. Duncan is a good friend to him and the other guys. Chris is nice to him so he can't be that bad.
She's the one most people don't like, so maybe she's the problem here.
Maybe she's just not a good person.
Maybe she's just selfish and inconsiderate and mean.
He's been warned and questioned on how he could still be friends with 'Noah' multiple times in the past and now he doesn't know anymore.
Now he doesn't think he could be friends with her anymore.
After he leaves Neha spirals and dissociates. Because the nicest guy- the one who forgives and likes everyone doesn't like her.
So she must truly be something despicable- a horrible monster who doesn't deserve a lick of kindness.
And it's just like her dad had always told her. Everyone preferred Noah- smart, funny, male Noah- but no one liked Neha- know-it-all, bitchy, female Neha. Too smart for her own good- too rude and mean.
Maybe life would have been better if she had been born a boy like her dad wanted- like all of her brothers were.
Or if she was nice and dumb like she was supposed to be-like her mom wanted her to be- like all the happiest people she's ever met are.
Then she could fit into what her role should be. But no. She's just Neha. Mean, selfish, smart, jaded Neha.
This could be in a competition, like a world tour rewrite and another contestant picks up the pieces and helps. Or to make it even more angsty, after the Ridonculous Race when they're moving in together and Neha is just left alone after that. No one else around for comfort.
Hell, it could be that he found out on complete accident and she just wasn't planning on telling him. Because why would she? She's finally got a friend who's stayed by her side. Even if it's by pretending to be male- to be 'Noah'.
I really liked the Ever After High story combined with Descendants. I'm curious. Would Neha have a design similar to Ramona or Kitty? Or did you have another character in mind? ✨👀
Omg thank you !!!!!!! I'm really glad to hear (or see) it!
And honestly? I was thinking more on the lines of Kitty's wonderland design with the actual ears and tail, but that they're more functional than just props. If anything, Izzy and Eva match their eah counterparts more appearance wise. Well, Izzy does the most, Eva dresses similarly to Lizzy but only in the palace (her mother's rules), she prefers to wear shorts and a tank top when she's out and about, so at least she decided to dress up a bit with some trousers and a blouse as she was playing tourist for the other kids...
But as for Neha, it also depends on which form we're talking about here!
Because if it's the cat one then she's basically a brown short-haired cat that looks gaunt with how skinny it is. Makes for easy carrying, not so much for good health. No clothes on since it's a cat.
In her male form she's basically stuck in a consistent appearance, once again looking gaunt. But the outfit is more of a mix between Alistair's and the Noah TD one if anything: cargo shorts, a shirt, and a jacket. The main difference though is that they don't fit properly- especially the shorts which are always slightly too big and doesn't fall down purely because of the magic. It's not an outfit by choice, but it's also the least of her worries when it comes to appearance.
In her actual form she would probably wear more of Kitty's attire in a way? Like imagine her hair being more like Ramona's (maybe even a mix texture wise) but outfit wise she'd go for something that could fit a lot of stuff in, so a skirt with bigger volume. Mainly because that fits more into Wonderland fashion so she'd be able to have pockets as deep as she wants for all of her books.
However, if we're talking more of her finally taking her actual form for the first time, then she would be looking a little feral: her outfit would be whatever she last threw on that got transfigured into her cursed one, she's obvious filling out in places she didn't before and subtracting from others, and she hasn't cut her hair in years considering the curse making that not needed. So the only well groomed bits would be the short black strands and the curly orange ones.
In fact, I did actually debate her (male) cat form having the two different coloured streaks in the fur.
I had this whole thing planned which is actually still canon to the au tbh, I just decided against writing about it in the fic. But it does relate to appearances I suppose, mainly team E-scope's but the others as well. There's actually a bunch of things not really mentioned in the fic itself because it's so lore heavy and I wanted to focus more on the first meetings!
So honestly, I'm gonna use this as an excuse to lore dump it here, if anyone doesn't want to know then turn back now!
Basically the way relationships work in wonderland is completely different to Auradon or the Isle, it was supposed further emphasise the differences between the three places as a different set of culture.
Auradon
Auradon has the more traditional relationships and friendships. Romantic are monogamous that leans more man/woman especially in royal/noble families so lavender marriages and arranged (like Courtney and Alejandro's) marriages for political reasons are quite common. However things like polyamory and cheating are really looked down on and it's a 'save yourself for marriage' sort of deal. Obviously this changes slightly across each of the states/kingdoms with them all having slight variations of what they find acceptable, especially between the classes and the idea of marrying for love when it comes to sexuality, but this is basically the baseline.
So their markers for these relationships are wedding rings between lovers, and crests worn by family and occasionally incredibly close friends. Symbols of their loyalty and commitment.
An example of this is both Courtney and Alejandro wearing their families' crests through jewelry- mainly necklaces. They had rings of each other's crests as is common when engaged but they were returned when Alejandro was initially love potioned and called it off.
Isle of the lost
Because the isle is all about rejecting the 'good' and 'moralness' of the heroes in Auradon, things like friendships or romantic relationships are looked down on and seen as only for the weak. Instead, they run on tentative alliances and no strings attached sort of things, because on an island populated by all the villains, caring about things is dangerous and likely to make you a target. So any connections are strictly referred to as alliances.
Since these alliances are the closest to any kind of relationship or caring that they're allowed, people in alliances tend to wear clothes/an item to signify it, they're obvious markers that you are a part of a group who will protect you and you would do the same in return.
For instance, Heather's group wearing leather and Leshawna's with the pirate get up.
Wonderland
Unlike the other two, Wonderland doesn't really do labels. It's kinda pointless when everything changes constantly after all. Because of this, there's not really any structure relationship-wise compared to the other two. So it's not really frowned upon to sleep around or have multiple partners, unless there's specific circumstances involved, and it's also not frowned upon to have close connections and depend on others- unlike both Auradon and the Isle respectively.
Because of this, the closest thing that they have to any kind of relationship is whether or not you belong to someone and they belong to you. The parameters to this can range anywhere from basic friendships to devoted relationships and they're all held in as high of a regard as each other. So like with everything else, wonderland is really fluid with it- the only exception being the current Queen and the royal family.
And the signifier of this, as with appearances, is dictated by wonder. For example, in a human once they have found someone they will always be loyal to, and once it's confirmed that that person will return it wholeheartedly, they start growing a part of the other person through hair. It's basically Wonder's way of saying 'hey look, this person belongs to you so much and is yours that you literally have part of them with you forever'. It only works when it's mutual, and it shows their commitment and loyalty to those people, so it's severely frowned upon to abandon them or not put them first when it comes to someone you don't have the same connection with. It's also incredibly taboo to cover up these indicators since it's seen as disrespectful to the people you are bound to- like you don't want them anymore or are ashamed of them.
So think soulmate aus but it forms long after you've made a connection, once it's there you can't get rid of it, and the nature of the connection is never the same.
Now, Izzy would be the only one out of the trio who actually has hers on display as streaks in her hair- the longer brown hair is braided and because of the fact that it's on the top of her hair she either hides it in her hat in specific places, or more commonly, she wears it around her hat and it gets mistaken for decoration. Which was why Heather didn't notice it when they met. The black hair is short enough that it easily hides in her natural hair so depending on how she wears it is how visible it is.
For Eva and Neha it's a hell of a lot more complicated.
Neha's physical appearance can't change so these streaks don't appear in her male form, and like I said I had originally planned to have them in her cat form but decided against it for one main reason- wonderlandians in animal form can both speak and have their indicators on display, Neha can do neither in her cat form which gets her mistaken as a regular cat. This was/is actually an important plot point in this au, fun fact!
As for Eva, her mother despises both Izzy and Neha so she has to hide it for that reason, but also because the queen believes that as royalty they're not supposed to be owned by anyone, they are the ones who own not the other way around. There's a lot of things that Eva does that subtly rebels against the queen, but letting the hair show isn't one of them. She has to cut it often since the speed it takes for it to grow back is unpredictable, on desperate occasions she tucks it into her collar or pins them into her ponytail. She does however like to keep the strands for Izzy to either braid together or put onto a hat to see if that can bypass Neha's curse or not.
So as far as relationships go, think of the Isle as having allies and allies with benefits, Auradon as having monogamous relationships and friendships, and Wonderland as having queer-platonic relationships that varies depending on the pair/group!
And also yes, these changes do also happen to people who stay in wonderland long enough.
I actually came up with an entire system on how wonder and magic works, and why magic cannot detect wonder- something that's mentioned in a throwaway line about Owen's looking glass! I dunno why I put this much work in a one off oneshot, but I do, and I'll keep doing it lmao.
In my defense, I am so very weak to drawing cute outfits. Since, in the group her archetype is ‘the cute one’ I imagine she’s put in a lot of very cutesy frilly outfits that she’s most likely gone numb to by this point, but would definitely be a shock to the system for the TD contestants to see her in. Especially considering how much it does clash with her personality.
(And I do find it very funny that since the fans of the group also watched the show. They are definitely well aware that her title of ‘the cute one’ does not really line up with her personality in any sense of the word, but nonetheless, we Stan)
Plus a small Addams family inspired doodle because I was watching that while drawing and I feel like Alejandro would have a lot of Gomez energy when he’s committed to one person alone 👍
Some more silly doodles inspired by your recent posts + simp Cody cuz it amuses me endlessly
Absolutely loved your idea of Neha and Ale meeting when they were young. Neha not really doing much/barley remembering anything. Meanwhile Ale is speedrunning his joker arc due to how bad he is a talking to a cute girl. (Peep a very over protective Bhaskar in the back who DEFINITELY remembers Al and is fists clenched anytime that eel talks to his baby sister on screen (the other brothers are very amused by this))
Once the show airs there’s definitely clips going around of Ales confessional of him going through all stages of grief in Egypt after his revelation.
