fav characters: guren, shinya, shinoa, krul, ferid, crowley, urdleast fav characters: kureto, yoichifav relationship: guren and shinya. i also rly like shinoa and mitsubafav moment: when guren makes the Post and we see mahiru for the first time tbh… iconicheadcanons/theories: i don’t have a whole lot but i definitely have theories abt mahiru and abt how things will end up with her in general… idk tho its been a while since i read so i might even be behind?unpopular opinion: i rly dont care abt mikaela and yuichiro shgndsgshdghow’d you find it: saw the first trailer for the anime and read the manga for itrandom thoughts: it’s alright. it’s in the same vein as ao no exorcist to me, but ane is way more to my personal taste, so i end up being more into ane in general instead. overall it’s worth a shot!
idk if you ever saw this, but I finally found the full video for the first time just now and,
neithius replied to your post “Huh, I think those are actual references? although it's probably...”
...Oh. Persona. I...failed to connect Person to Persona...Huh.
Don't worry! In all fairness, 'Person' could be attributed to... anything. My first jump is just 'Persona'. I didn't know about Kuru Kuru Kururin, so thank you!
tbh, and maybe this is harsh of me, but it almost feels like Mashima's characters aren't written with actually defined personalities to begin with anymore. They just say and do whatever's necessary to get to the next set piece.
You’re right, they definitely aren’t. They’re just written with... whatever Mashima wants them to do at any given time. I mean, Irene’s an incoherent mess and Zeref’s all over the place. Mashima has ideas about what plot points he wants, but not how to write the characters through them, so they just sort of... do whatever.
They don’t even have coherent character arcs either? Or even have any real conclusions to their plots at all. It’s most obvious with the Spriggans since they’re the newest so them zigzagging all over the place really stands out, but he’s not doing a great job writing arcs for his main characters either.
unless they’re juvia, because she never had a personality that wasn’t one note screams of “gray-sama~” to begin with
The thing that's always really bothered me about Acnologia is... what is he? Not in a technical sense, but a meta sense. Because it felt like Tenrou was trying really hard to sell me that he was some eldritch monster in the form of a dragon that humanity couldn't comprehend, and he's only felt more and more like any other generic FT villain ever sense. Also, really, FLARE? As in, the name of the signature attack of famous recurring Final Fantasy super summon "Dragon King Bahamut"? Really?
Acnologia isn’t even generic. He’s hollow. He barely has a personality because we never see him, we barely know what he’s capable of because we almost never see him fight, we barely know his reasons for doing things because we only have other people tell us what he plans to do.
He’s a big ball of “wannabe hype” - we’re told he’s strong and told what he wants to do and while we know these things as fact we almost never see him act on anything. He wants to kill Dragon Slayers but he never really interacts with them. He wants to destroy the rest of humanity but he hasn’t actually killed anyone besides Serena yet. He’s the super ultimate super strongest Dragon Slayer of magic but we’ve only ever seen him sorta fight Jellal.
He’s a big looming figure of dread except we never know how much to dread or why. This is the most screentime he’s ever had and Mashima’s barely using the guy. Even his backstory was revealed in the movie - and said backstory was really, really lacklustre.
He’s our only hope, which is said, because for a villain that’s been hyped as much as he has he hasn’t done a damn thing.
(Also, can anyone that’s finished Final Fantasy XV keep an eye out for Mashima ripping off any Bahamut scenes from them? I’d love to know if he does!)
Pretty sure that's related to a really old meme from Game Grumps (like back from right after Jontron left) where Arin Hanson assumed the voice of an 80-year old Louisiana man and rambles on for 5 minutes about his need to pick up grapes off of the ground. I'm sure there's a video somewhere.
aashghhsdhgashghasdhghh how do you know all of these obscure as fuck memes im so glad i have you in my life
I don't have time to watch his stuff, but I managed to find the independent filmmaker who wrote and directed it in 2013 (and a lot of other urban outfitter commericals). So uh, that's a thing. vimeo(.)com/scottrossvideo - You can also find his online resume site by googling Scott Ross.
god bless??? im gonna go watch more of them
the tommy wiseau one is here btw
