Monsterkind had won the war and sealed humans, mages, including Demi-Humana/Hybrids underground. They accomplished this by betraying the Goddess’ trust. They also ensured to drive the idea to the humans that it was the goddess’ power and word that allowed them to win. Ensuring none would call for her aid for at least a few years.

Over the course of thousands of years, Monsters had technologically advanced themselves. Becoming dependent on Alchemy and Enchantments to sustain them. Majority of monsters lost the ability to use all magic.

The sparse few with high mana were taken to the capital and forced to be Alchemists. They’d use their abilities to contribute to the stabilization of their society. Monster Culture and religion were forgotten over time.

17 year old Sans, aka Lio, goes to Mtt. Ebott despite the legend and volunteeringly falls down the mountain.

Through his venture, Lio discovers the descendants of the hybrids and mages were still alive. He even befriends some. Many welcomed him with open arms.

Humanity was now limited to mages and hybrids. Anyone who couldn’t use magic didn’t have the capability to adapt to the underground’s climate. They couldn’t sustain themselves and magic food wasn’t able to keep them from starving.

The lack of sun light also deterred them, mages were able to make artificial light; down side is that you needed a certain amount of mana to convert it into the energy that the body requires.

The humans also didn’t want to deprive and deplete those who were able to support themselves. Accepting their fates. The last non mage to perish performed a ceremony to invoke the goddess in a final plea.

Lio discovers when the goddess answered and realized what had happened, she made an oath to ensure the remaining humanity will be cared for. And cursed the monsters. Until the day come where someone from the surface came to break the barrier, monster kind will atone for their crime.

Mana- Everyone has the capacity to use magic. The power behind their magic is Mana. The amount of SOUL energy an individual has.

Enchantment Magic- Utilizes combination of Incantation magic and any of these: organic life, soil, rocks, crystals, item/s, specified target to enchant. It is most commonly used among Humans and Monsters to buff or add an effect on items/attacks. 

Alchemy- The combination and deconstruction of the main two magics. It's a focused form to understand and create items/spells that advance society along with research. Magic is consistently changing and Alchemists have the duty to monitor these waves of changes.
