Yes, but they also never met in person, so you could speculate they never discussed it. As well, in the bar, it would have been easier for them to switch to sign when it was too loud, as we see Gibbs and Abby do when they can't hear each other well, but they didn't? Its all guessing though

Lol I was gonna work on that Nate/Nell thing from 2x14 'Lockup' (that 'we go back a few years' chiz) after one more GIF-set I'm working on, good thing I saw Zoe was gonna work on that before I started extracting the clip from the video. ;)
