Thanks :) Everything is going well so far, and we're expecting a full recovery. Eventually. It's not like this wasn't completely unexpected because we knew when we adopted him and his sister that back problems could happen since they're dachshunds, but we hoped to avoid them because we found a breeder who had healthy dogs. But it happened, and it's a genetic thing, so there's nothing we can really do to prevent the calcification of the disks. All we can do is make sure Ivan and his sister stay off steps and don't make big jumps and hope for the best. Hopefully his sister, Hannah, won't have any problems. It's funny, though, because she has the longer back of the two, yet Ivan was the one who had the problem. Weird genetic problems....
