Okay, yes, that is an awful feeling, BUT it also means that you're one step closer to finishing the story and having the version you're proud of out in the world. So...kinda yay too?

Introduction

Hi everyone, this is Tasha. You probably know me from my main blog @mer-acle, and here, I will basically be reblogging everything related to my novel that I post on main, so it's easier to sift through.

But what is Nemori, you may ask if you've stumbled over this on accident. So let me give you a quick rundown :D

Plot and Themes:

Nemori is the story about how others' ambition and selfish desires and impact the lives of those around them. 15 years ago, Marielle Payne disappeared without a trace, a missing person's case that was never solved. But she is not a missing person's case. She is a daughter, a sister, an aunt to people who are trying to live their lives with the echo that she left behind. And more than that. She's a woman caught in the grip of a nefarious organization and, unbeknownst to those on the outside, she's still trying to get home. In the story, we not only meet the Payne family, shaped by a 15-year-old loss, we also meet those who did this to them. The Gryphites Nemori, a Secret Society looking for the thing that turns people into monsters more than anything else; the promise of eternal life, youth, and health. In their eyes, it really is rather selfish of those who hold the key in their veins not to jump onto the opportunity to sacrifice their freedom, health, and maybe far more than that, to give it to them.

Characters and Relationships

Nemori has a rather big cast because of the Gryphites Nemori (Gryphons for short) having quite a few members, but I'm just going to introduce the important ones here

The Payne Family: The family at the center of the story, separated by the Gryphons' hunt for immortality. On the inside, we've got Marielle, outspoken, impulsive, and always one botched blood donation away from dying from anemia. She misses her family desperately, but she's glad she's got some people in her corner within her prison who make it bearable. The fact that the Gryphons recently took another girl, around the same age that she was when she was kidnapped, really rocks her world. On the outside, we meet, besides Marielle's parents, her older brother Jonathan, his wife Clarice, and their 15-year-old daughter Hannah. Nate had to deal with the loss of his little sister as well as the constant stress between not giving up on finding her and knowing it was probably not going to happen. He's about to find out the improbable option was the right one in this case. Clarice is kind but assertive, and the old tragedy only bonded her more to the family. Hannah never knew her aunt personally, but she knows about her. It is fair to assume that her love of crime fiction and true crime comes in part from living with an unsolved case. It will just not be a cold case for very long now...

Melody: Melody is the Gryphons' newest victim. Recently taken from the orphanage she was living in, she's still adjusting... well, let's rather say she's dealing with having ended up in a cult / secret society... and the fact that the person who acted like she wanted to adopt her ended up being an agent of the organisation.

The Resistance Not everyone within the Gryphites Nemori is cut-and-dry evil. Very luckily for the protagonists, we have a quartet of people who would also like to see this place burned, as diverse as their reasons for joining up were. Dr. Scott and George from the med bay, Annie the resident IT girl, and Jamie, guard and external spy. The scary part about this is, that even with this much help on her side, Marielle has still been trapped there for over a decade...

The Gryphons The main antagonist within the secret society is Anomine, unscrupulous, paranoid, arrogant, aka exactly the kind of guy you want in charge AND in control of your life. If Marielle's hate for him could be transformed into electricity, the entire town would be lit up for decades. Then we've also got Huffman, the shady business guy who kinda runs this place for real, and Williams, the muscle, unfortunately very easy to antagonize.

General Info

I'm currently in my first draft (more or less. I kinda wrote this story down entirely when I was younger, but this will be the new and improved version that hopefully makes some sense XD) but I'm hoping to publish it one day.

Genre-wise, I'd probably say Thriller with a touch of mystery. It's going to be a one-off book, not a series, and it touches on topics such as family, friendship, grief, trauma, power-dynamics, and sacrifice. (tags would include hurt/comfort, angst, everyone needs a hug, yk, the usual XD)

blood is included and it will occasionally end up outside of bodies ;)

A little about me, the author: My name is Tasha Havenlock, I'm 24, study media, and I love hurt/comfort, found family, and, if you ask Ao3, breaking reader's hearts :3 Next to writing, I like drawing, and I'm kinda obsessed with pretty fonts and designs.

Emori + Ships AU / Battle of the Exes : Emori wishes she were unlucky in love That might sound like a crazy to say, but when all three of her exes at the same time enter back into her life, Emori is left scrambling over what to do about it.

After calling it quits with him five months ago, Nelson, Vice President of COG Industries shows up at one of Emori’s business parties, dressed to the nines and proposes a business partnership with her computer company...as well as wanting to pick up where they left off. Emori, needing to weigh her options, tells him that she needs time to decide.

In the meantime, Raven, her girlfriend she had in college, drops in at her place for a surprise visit. After spending six years in the space program flying rockets into space, Raven’s ready to reconnect with their group of friends and settle back down on Earth. Raven also confesses to Emori that she’s ready to recommit to their relationship if she is. Again, Emori is left reeling.

Adding more drama to her life, Emori encounters John, her high school sweetheart and first love when she attends their high school reunion. John, now an accomplished chef with his own chain of restaurants, has dramatically cleaned up his his life, wanting Emori to be a part of it. It leaves Emori’s head spinning.

Three suitors, one heart to win. Who will Emori choose?

I will be predictable and ask about the mermaid one first, but I would also love to hear more about the Benvi soulmates thing!

i honestly can’t remember what i’ve told you, but i am going to hope that you don’t remember either. or else this can just be a fun ploy for others to join the nemori nation (but also murven because duh).

emori is tried of her life of banishment in the ocean and makes a deal with alie, a sea witch, to grow legs. she doesn’t have an exact goal in mind, but thinks she should track down the human that she and nelson saved from a ship wreck a few days prior. as a result of her legs, she ends up with a disfigured hand. nelson— who very reluctantly makes the same deal to go after emori on land, must give up his voice.

both trade offs are a result of the reasons for their banishments. emori’s hand represents the tail that she was banished for— a surface judgement that she was cast away for. nelson was banished because he tried (and failed) to start an uprising against the corrupt leaders.

they quickly find themselves over their heads when they end up in the middle of a courting competition for the prince— the same man they saved from the ocean. nelson acting as emori’s ambassador (though a very quiet one) and emori posing as a princess from a distant land. it just so happens that the prince, john murphy has his eye on a certain sea caption— so emori and nelson have a lot of work ahead of them if they ever want to get his attention.

devi was homeschooled up until she was 15, since her mom never put faith in the public school system. her dad was her main teacher, and when he passed her mom found it to be necessary to finally put her in public school.

she knows of eleanor and fabiola because of the out of school clubs and activities that her parents would bring her to, but devi doesn’t know anyone else from sherman oaks high.

her dad had taught her all about soulmates, and how he and her mother see in the world in colour because they found each other. on devi’s first day of school, she is sitting in class when two boys walk into class at once— and that sets her world into colour. the only issue is that she can’t quite tell who she saw first…

5) Echo x Bellamy: They were a power couple with a solid history. I think especially if they'd came back down to earth just as 'Spacekru living on a farm somewhere', the two would've been very happy together forever.

4) Echo x Emori: PICTURE IT- the delinquents never came to Earth. Instead we have Assasin!Echo meeting up with Theif!Emori while they are both trying to go after the same mark. It could've been something 😮

3) Echo x Raven: They could've moved worlds together, these two queens of their own right!

2) Echo x Roan: Jumping in mid-season I actually thought they were together when I started watching!? Great chemistry, I think it would've worked if the writers had went there. They are similar people in some ways.

1) Echo x Hope: They spend 6 years together on Skyring, already got so close and knew the other so well... I would've loved to see them as endgame. I think it would've been a very happy, healthy relationship for both of them 💚

Honourable mention to Niyah and Wells and Octavia all who I think would've been super sweet to see her end up in with too! 😅
