Little fun facts about my Natlan ocs because they're my babies (I'll potentially add more as they come up):
× Selena is blind due to her erasing parts of someone's memories (I'll talk more about it when I talk about their character stories) an eye for an eye kind of exchange
× Rai (an oc I've posted previously) is Selena's past disciple
× Selena's snake is called Ixtli
× Ilhuitl claims he isn't highly superstitious but still believes someone is talking about him when he sneezes
× Ilhuitl and Selena live together due to Selena losing her father (which is important to her backstory)
× Before Selena moved in, Ilhuitl used to leave his hair down (Selena braids his hair every morning)
× The reason behind their matching black eyes is that they both paid a price for their power
× Selena's hands and lower part of her arms became red after the issue mentioned before (memory erasure)
◇ an akademiya graduate from natlan who majored in archeology. if you ever require his insight or help, he is quite often found in aaru village despite his outfit fitting the colder weather of apam woods...
author's note; i'm very excited to show you guys angel! he was my favorite character to design because i gave him an outfit based off a mariachi :D (at least the top half) i hope you guys can enjoy seeing this guy as much as i liked designing him <3 i'll eventually get around to my other three ocs, so be ready for them. but that's all for angel for now until i finish up his voicelines :D
◇ a young woman often found by the side of a certain unlucky adventurer. her origins are unknown by many. only those who have been lucky enough to cross her path on multiple occasions find themselves discovering her past. the boy of misfortune and her caretakers refuse to reveal the truth themselves. although, the young boy has almost slipped up on multiple occasions
author's note; so, i said alphabetical order, but katherine's design was my favorite (cause i love ice skating), so i couldn't help myself from doing hers first. we have one more intro before i start posting voicelines (which are such a pain to write -3-), so be ready for that <3
✧ "If you ever get a chance, I would recommend you sit and listen to her play. It is quite enchanting." - Kaedehara Kazuha
When the Crux docks, there is always a chance you will hear the soft playings of a violin. Attempting to find the source will lead you to the crow's nest, but you will never reach the player. Why?
"Please do not disturb the young miss while she plays."
A clockwork mek will block your way, who is adamant on keeping you away. Said mek will not hesitate to use force, so it is recommended to step away. You may get a chance, however, to meet the musician if you catch her coming down. Even then, you will only catch a glance at her.
"Potential threat detected. Stay back, young miss."
"Do not shoot random people. Beidou will make me apologize."
many people of the harbor often wonder about the mysterious woman aboard the alcor. it surprises them to find out that the young woman they are so curious about can be found very easily
they've only caught glimpses of the person on the alcor, so most aren't sure of what she even looks like.
all they have is a name, chloe.
many of them believed her to be a shy, but they couldn't be more far off the mark.
growing up in a household where her father appreciated the cold hard truth rather than sugar-coated words, chloe often finds herself speaking a certain way. chloe feels that she had no reason to filter her words.
like her father used to say,
" the truth will reveal itself eventually, so why hold it back? "
◇ CHARACTER STORY 2
chloe is alcor's unofficial mechanic on board. on top of doing regular checkups on the ship's systems, chloe busies herself with fixing other items from crewmembers.
a lot of items have been fixed by her hands and she enjoys doing these tasks. it takes her back to times where she would sit in her father's workshop and play around with his gadgets and machines.
having inherited the creative mind of her father, chloe often makes small adjustments to the items she fixes.
of course, she always asks permissions from her crewmembers before making these adjustments. she's seen a multitude of unhappy costumers when she lived with her father and she doesn't like the disappointed looks on their faces.
she hopes to see them with a happy smile when they receive their items, so she can smile with them
◇ CHARACTER STORY 3
hailing from fontaine, chloe is regularly asked about her life there. her crewmembers sit around as she talks fontaine's landscapes and technologies.
despite being very quiet on the daily, chloe can ramble on and on about her life in fontaine. this rambling habit of hers doesn't simply extend to her life in fontaine.
whenever beidou anchors the alcor in the docks of liyue, chloe will tell the children of the harbor about the alcor's adventures out at sea with beidou
if she isn't telling tales to children, she is sharing tea with a certain funeral parlor consultant. the two could spend hours and hours on end talking about anything that comes to mind. that is until a young brunette cuts them off, so the consultant can continue his work for the day.
◇ CHARACTER STORY 4
as much as chloe appreciates the liveliness of the alcor, she finds herself becoming overwhelmed with the noise.
chloe has grown up attending many celebration parties when she was younger, but she still isn't used to the crowds.
for that reason, she is often below deck or in the crow's nest. here is where she finds the most peace and comfort.
that's how it was until kaedehara kazuha joined her in the crow's nest.
she had known of a young man joining the alcor during a trip to inazuma, but she didn't go out of her way to get to know him. she'd only heard bits and pieces about him from other crewmembers
she hadn't had a full interaction with the mysterious man until one night she found herself face to face with him.
it was a quiet night. chloe climbed up to the crow's nest to breath in some fresh air after a tough project.
she was hoping for solitude, but found someone else looking for the same thing. she contemplated climbing back down, but she was stopped by kazuha catching her eyes.
" sorry, i didn't think anyone would be up here at this hour. i'll go "
before she could begin her descent, kazuha shook his head.
" there is no need for an apology. you're free to join me "
awkwardly, chloe placed herself beside him and looked out at the starry sky. chloe took a good look at kazuha and noticed the scars peeking from his bandages on his hand.
from what she could tell, they seemed to be burns. burns from what exactly? as much as her curiosity was biting her, she kept her mouth shut.
she could sense a story behind them, but it would discourteous of her to ask about them. they looked painful.
she stood in silence with the young man, watching the stars. it would begin their small midnight rendezvous where they would sit silently and look up at the stars
chloe found peace in those times. it felt as if she were standing with her brother looking up at the stars again
◇ CHARACTER STORY 5
if you were to ask chloe about the one thing she missed about her home, she would contemplate the answer. she missed her father, her brother, and her old house.
she missed a lot about her home in fontaine, but there are some things she could never miss.
the courthouse was one.
the large building had always intimidated her to a great degree when she was younger. her brother had to often reassure her that the courthouse wouldn't come to life and eat her.
beyond the silly childlike fears of the courthouse, chloe also saw the great despair that the building would bring about.
she saw how the courthouse and its justices broke apart her family. she saw the tears of her family and the fear in their eyes.
she couldn't bare to stare at the courthouse or cast it a glance ever again after her incident with it.
she could never miss such a terrifying building.
◇ DORÉ
as a young child, chloe often found herself in her father's workshop alongside her older brother. they'd watch the hardworking inventor create beautiful machines with amazement.
their father would let them tinker with bits and pieces scattered around his workshop. chloe frequently tugged on her father's sleeve to ask for more to do.
surprised at her eagerness, her father gave her a project to work on with her brother. he wanted them to create a messenger. he gave them creative liberty for its design and only told them that it had to be able to travel long distances.
the combined efforts of the siblings created a small sphere with connected wings. their father was impressed and let them keep the creation despite the fact that it couldn't serve its purpose: sending messages. it could hold letters and small objects, but it could not fly
their father reassured them both that it didn't matter that it couldn't fly. they had tried their best.
the small invention was named doré after it's gold coating and had a small rose painted on its front, a signature of the family.
sometimes chloe ponders whether her father could tell that they would be separated such a great distance in the future
◇ VISION
the story of chloe's vision can be a tough one to tell. the reason being that not many people besides chloe herself and beidou know what happened.
chloe had always wanted to be as amazing as her father. a genius inventor that was praised for their amazing mind and creativity.
she worked hard to emulate her father's creativity through her own works, but found herself frustrated when she finished.
it was never enough. she couldn't hope to reach her father's level. she spent her days in her own personal workshop without much interaction.
she wanted, no needed to reach her father's level. how could she be called his daughter of she couldn't replicate what he had? if she couldn't produce joy from her own creations? who was she if she couldn't?
one day, her door was swung open for the first time in a long time. her father and brother's concerned face made her stand up from her curled up position on the floor.
she spotted the bag in her brother's hand and let her shoulders sag. they had finally realized how much she had disappointed them and, now, it was time for her to go.
she expected the bag to be thrown at her along with heavy insults, but it placed carefully in her hands along with the failed invention from her childhood, doré.
" chloe, we think it's time for you to unchain yourself from your constraints "
" but, i haven't- "
" and you might not for a while, but that's ok. inventors sometimes need to be hit with some inspiration once in a while and i think i've taken most of fontaine's "
with that, her father took her to the docks where she was met with a boisterous woman by the name of beidou.
a/n; a lot of the fontaine talk is complete speculation and stuff i've learned from the game. it wouldn't be surprising if some of this stuff is incorrect when fontaine is released ^^;; if you're interested about anything related to chloe, my ask box is open to any questions or comments you may have :)
despite the encouraging words of her father and brother, chloe locked herself away in her room on the alcor, refusing to exit.
beidou paid her a visit one day, her items in hand. despite her protests, chloe took the things from beidou and placed them on her bed.
before beidou took her leave, chloe stopped her.
" this, this vision isn't mine "
" what're you talking about, kid? that's yours! "
it was on that day that chloe was able to proudly call herself an inventor when she was able to bring life to her first failed invention with her bright vision, doré
◇ a seamstress found near liyue harbor. she's often out and about in the harbor or chatting with qiqi in bubu pharmacy. do not fear her seemingly dead stare, she's quite friendly. at least, if you haven't caused her any trouble
here's my final (playable) oc i had hidden in my basement :D she actually gave me the most trouble with coming up with a design ;-;, but here she is :) i'll hopefully have their voicelines finished soon, but no promises
