So I sent a mail to Neo-Tokyo, one of the biggest Japanese-import stores here in Norway about Yashahime.

I wrote to them:

"Hi,

If you are offered to sell something related to Yashahime do I hope you say no. The series is promoting child brides and the character Rin from Inuyasha gives birth when she's max 14 in episode 15, the father of the children is Sesshoumaru, her own father figure. In episode 20 do they also have a trans caricature that's rudely done and illegal in relation to the new Norwegian laws.

Best regards, [secret]"

They replied with:

"Hi [secret],

Of course, we don't support those things. So far we have only sold things related to Inuyasha, but not Yashahime. Thanks for telling us about this!

Best regards, Neo-Tokyo"

I'll now contact Outland, the biggest import of nerdy goods store!

(now they won't get those marked up Norwegian prices!)

May I ask how one make a zine?

So there’s quite a few ways to go about making a zine! You can always do a solo zine, in which all the art/comics/writing is created by you. This can be done traditionally (handwritten/printed out) or digitally (through Gumroad or a similar service.) A great thing about zines is that they are pretty cheap and easy to make.

Now if you want to bring together a group of people to create for your zine that’s going to take some more effort. A good start is having a common theme that everyone makes something for (zines don’t necessarily need themes, but it helps creators to have a prompt.) Next you’ll need a due date for the finished pieces, along with how many creators you would like to be featured. Is every submitter going to be accepted? Or do you have a set number of people you’d like in your zine (if so, it helps to have people submit their websites so you can get an idea of their work.) 

Once you have an idea for how big the zine will be, you should decide upon payment. How much will creators get?  “Just for fun” zines, and charity zines are common, but it’s always good practice to at least offer creators a copy of the zine.

After all the creators have submitted you can go to print, you can offer it online on gumroad, or you can just post it online for all to see!

I recommend visiting Wikipedia for information, but here's a picture from the same manga. In reality, it's not as "pretty". Due to being bent the way many animal legs are, they can stand like animals:

This girl Ella Harper worked in a freak show as a "camel girl", and Kiyoko in the pictured manga works as a "cow woman". Most "freaks" were abused throughout history, so Goshiki no Fune is idealistic by having a group of 5 "freaks" who become family and take care of each other and only have shows to make money to eventually afford help. It's a bittersweet manga but I do recommend it as most of the "freaks" are more human than the "normal" ones without demonizing them either.

Oh. Wow.

That's both amazing and heartbreaking. No one deserves to be treated that way. I feel so sorry for them.

The reason one don’t really notice Killua and Gon’s growth is that they’re in main focus. When one grow up with someone, one won’t notice how they grow/have grown until one hasn’t seen them for a while, or pants too short, reaching higher etc.

Exactly! I couldn't agree more. When you're around people you know irl you gradually grow with them, so you don't realize the small changes, until one day you're like "Wow, yeah this person is way different". That's exactly how it was for Gon and Killua. The artists did such a great job with conveying this aging that many may not even realize that the artists gradually did age them. You may have this moment of realism where you're like "Wow, they seem older all of a sudden" but in reality the artists slowly but surely changed their appearances. It's beautfiul. They did such a great job. One of my favorite things about the original post was seeing how many people hadn't realized it before, because now this may open the door for many more to take notice of these little things that artists work very hard on. It's a very under-appreciated job, and I hope just from that original post some people's eyes have been opened to just how creative and hard-working these artists are!
