Soutaiseiriron - NEO-FUTURE
This Neo-Future Could Be Yours:
Since our founding in 2013, we’ve performed nearly 400 Neo-Futurist shows in San Francisco and around the Bay. Now we’re asking for your help to get to our 500th performance: we need to raise $5,000 by the end of the year to blast us into 2018.
Thanks to our generous community (hey that’s you!) we’ve already raised $1,335, putting us 27% of the way towards our goal! Meanwhile, we wanted to offer you a sneak peak of what that 500th performance might contain. If you want to see these plays onstage, we’re going to need your help: make a donation today to help make these plays (and so many more) a reality! Here are some things we are working on and plays we want to write for you in the coming year:
“I want to write a dance piece about hotel breakfast buffets, and the weird fidgets people have to make sure that they're not missing out on something good.” – Vanessa
“I want to make a suit, actually build it onstage as part of the play. It would be large and make me seem massive and fantastical.” – Brenda
“A play about/for Ben Barres.” – Simon
“a play that takes place in another temporal state besides the here & now. I'm not sure what that means, but I have all of 2018 to find out.” – Amy
“It's about deciding whether or not to have children, and I think I might call it Schroedinger's Child...Mainly I am writing about simultaneously holding in my mind the possible futures in my life and in the lives of friends.” – Topher
“I recently was exposed to Patrick Cowley, who was an SF resident in the 70s who's college compositions were bought to score several famous early porn films. The music is synth heavy and very sexy and I've been scheming up a dance exploring light, shadows and the sexy gay past.” – Ryan Patrick
“I want to write a suite of 23 plays, where each play explores one of the ‘23 emotions people feel, but can't explain.’ " – Shaina
“A Neo-Futurist episode of Star Trek.” – Willie
“I’m trying to write a play about a woman who’s a gold digger and just doesn’t give a f***.” – Margaret
