Manco Inca ruled the Neo-Inca State with his sister-wife Curi Ocllo. Viewed as rebels by the Spanish, Curi was captured and in November 1539 was stripped, beaten, then tied to a post and shot to death with arrows by indigenous allies of the Spanish. This murder outraged plenty of people in Cusco, including curacas allied with the Spanish and some of the Spaniards themselves. In fact, Francisco Pizarro’s cousin reported that she was blameless and was killed without consideration. #inca #neoinca #november #womeninhistory #spanishconquest #precolombian #1539 #cusco #franciscopizarro #curiocllo #curaoclla https://www.instagram.com/p/CHJEtIgAVAE/?igshid=7jwpstd2t0n
